I have 2001 Volvo V70 and key in my ignition lock was not able to go to position 1, 2 or 3. I could put key in and take it out but absolutely no turning key even for a milimetar. Obviously, ignition cylinder was 100% stuck so I bought NEW programmed Ignition Lock Housing and spent 5-6 hours to take down OLD Ignition Lock Housing.
As you know big problem is Volvo Shear Bolts so it was very, very hard for me to take down OLD Ignition Lock Housing. I succeeded to take it down but now I have another BIG problem - Parking Release Cable or gear shift cable won’t came off of Ignition Lock Housing. I am sorry for not knowing correct technical term but that is that thick black cable on key side of Ignition Lock Housing…and it won’t came off so that I can plug it in NEW Ignition Lock Housing and then mount new Ignition Lock Housing on my steering wheel.
Please know that on OLD Ignition Lock Housing I cannot move my key not even for a millimeter….no way that I can switch to position 1 or 2 o3 3….absolutely is stuck on ZERO position....so playing with a key is out of the picture....but I still have to detach that cable from old housing and attach it to a new.

Please help…I am beaten down with this like never before. I deeply thank you for any advice …THANK YOU!!!!
