top/roof assembly issues !

hey guys

I m a newbie to Volvos , I'll try make a story short bought a 2003 c70 with the top needing replacing . under the advise of a professional trim shop : replaced the entire roof/top assembly instead of just the top , got and old roof assembly in pretty good condition from a junk yard .
now the rear window area won't close ( I do have the drivers side window down bad regulator - process of getting that fixed )

questions:

do all the windows have to be functioning for the convertible top to work right ?
how do you manually lower the top ?
