Difference in engine mounts... ?
Greetings. Looking to replace front and rear mounts . Just want to be sure before buying locally or ordering online that there is a difference in the shape/ design between front and rear . Local says their part fits front and rear. Online shows front/rear different part numbers. Thanks.

Hi Cliff, they're different mounts. I imagine you could use the same for front and rear... (I think the sizes of the nuts are the same.) But one is taller than the other.

Thanks. Just don't want to get under the car and find out they don't fit correctly.

Also the rear one has an alignment tab on the top of it.

Also, get them OEM or bluebox, otherwise you will replacing them soon. The rear hydraulic mount is a pain to get out- getting in is even worse. That is because you are not supposed to lift the engine that far up. But you need to do so or the rear one won't get out. i ended up cutting off 5mm or so off the upper thread of the rear mount because there was no way i could lift it any higher. The top bolt of the rear one is hard to get off as well.
The front hydraulic mount is easy to get loose, but i had to remove the radiator shroud to get enough room to get it out of the engine bay.
Good luck

Thanks. Hard thing is finding a matching OEM front and rear from sellers. Only brand I can find with matching rear and front is Meyle. Has anybody use non matching brands for replacement ? I'm letting a shop install ( $95 each ) . I don't feel like wasting an off day on this repair.

Different parts front and rear, but that's been settled already. Hutchinson and Lemforder are good here, or blue box. I don't see any reason they need to match as long as they are quality. I wouldn't go Meyle on hydraulic mounts but maybe that's just me.

If I recall correctly the difference between the front and back is the alignment tab/plate. I heard people just swapping over the plate - not sure if this is correct but that is what I read many moons ago.
If both mounts are done at the same time it is pretty quick - the shop should have no issues and be done in under an hour.

Thanks. I'll be getting both at once. More than likely Hutchinson. Tired of dealing with Helga.
