BTW Thanks for the spelling lesson because it's so helpful towards the problems i'm having with my car.
Wouldn't you say that it's UNNECESSARY!

Make sure you check the RF motor mount, near the RF wheel area. They collapse and cause all kinds of vibration.

Also, there is a bump stop under the transmission on the sub-frame near the LF wheel. If the mounts are bad enough, the transmission rests on the bump stop, causing vibrations to resonate through the car.

My wife's 2000 S70 has similar idle noise/vibration in drive/reverse. I have just about replaced all motor mounts x transmission torque mount (doing that next) without significant improvement. However, engine idles right at 800 and otherwise drives great. I have cleaned throttle body, MAF sensor, tune-up is up-to-date. I'm convinced this is still an engine-transmission mounting issue.
Tripleb, I see the bumper stop on schematic diagrams. Is this easy to get to and replace? Thanks.

I'm trying to imagine the bumper stop you guys are speaking of. Can someone upload a graphic of it?

Check out this pic

If there were a clock in the middle of the subframe, the bumper stop in at 9:30.

There is no need to replace the stop, unless its missing.

What it does is it prevents the engine/transmission from hitting the metal subframe when the mounts are bad.

It is a good indicator of the condition of you front and rear mounts, seen in this picture as PN# 6801722, and 9434435.

Sometimes you will see that there are signs that the trans. has been hitting the stop, sometimes it will be sitting on it. Also check the clearance with the engine running and the trans. in D.

No, just above it in the pic.

It's solid rubber, round, and near the end of the transmission.
