Hello there,
Recently my front grill came off and i am in the process of reinstalling it.
What i was wondering though was, is there any way to reach the hood latches from the front grill space if the grill is removed first, then reach though the opening or something? It's hard to tell. So this would mean either reaching in or using a custom made tool or something.
Thanks.

Access Hood Release Latch Through Front Grill
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

It's a lot easier if you rig a wire or string before the cable breaks , and tie off above the air shield

Rumor has it some have went through the corner lamp area...

I tried the corner lamp no dice on a cable break when I sold the 2000 V70. Ten minutes after I sold it the guy calls me to say he broke the cable so I went out to have a look.
Some have removed the headlight lens and screwed off the lamp covers at the rear. Another headlight will be needed as you need to damage the headlight to get to the cable.

The safety catch is the only one you can get to through the grill. The primary ones on each corner I have always been able to pop by removing the corner lamp and going in that way.
It did help to have another one with the hood open for reference so I wasn't guessing. I don't remember what I used for the tool though.

This would be a great video to make, maybe from a PnP?
Do you break the side light to get to the latch or does it pop out and just stretch the spring?
Covered in detail here, and Matty has a good cover on swede speed too

How did you get the corner lamp out?
Thanks.

I pulled on it. The spring retaining it will stretch. I think I inserted a long screwdriver and unhooked it from the header panel. Alternatively you could clip it with a side cutters and just use a new spring to put it back in.
