Yesterday, I also added the Yakima cargo box from our "family van" (a '99 VW EuroVan my brother just installed new timing chains on!) which did not elicit the oohs and ahhs I was expecting from the kids. It took some trial and error to get it far enough forward so that the tailgate doesn't bump it.

Nice! I think the Eurovans are pretty cool. My cousin is an express service tech at a VW dealer and one of his co-workers has one.

My R doesn't have that interior tailgate release either. I think that was just something Volvo eliminated on '99 or '00 models. No idea why.
Same with the lock cylinder on the tailgate. My '98 has one but not my 2000. Kind of annoying at times!

Anyway, just replaced the steering angle sensor on the XC90 a little bit ago. Gotta hook up VIDA tomorrow and clear out the codes again, but I think that's fixed. Once the new Haldex pump gets here I can change the AOC fluid, filter, and pump and get the AWD working again.
Also changed the fuel rail pressure sensor, CEL popped on today and I grabbed one at the junkyard when I got the steering angle sensor. Fortunately they had a V8 XC90 that I was able to get the sensor from!

Still waiting on parts that USPS has fudged up. They're usually pretty good so I'll give them a break this time. They sent it to the wrong facility the first time, but at least in the correct country and state...

USPS has been slipping up lately... I've had two packages recently that showed "arriving on time" for a short time, then "arriving late" for a couple days before it finally arrived. Took a week to get a package from Flyin' Miata that was shipped Priority 2 day!

I like USPS, they are usually very reliable. FedEx on the other hand can't manage to deliver anything to me that isn't damaged. My dad ordered a top tool box for his 26" Harbor Freight tool chest, and FedEx absolutely mangled it. Sent that back to HF (their customer service was very easy to deal with too, they didn't hesitate to send a replacement) and the replacement arrived in worse condition than the original. For one, HF could have packed it better, but that's some poor handling from FedEx! It looked like it had been thrown off the back of a truck and backed over... multiple times.
I had a radiator shipped from FCP Euro via FedEx, and even that box was pretty messed up (crushed and torn corners, scuffed all over) but fortunately FCP did an excellent job packing it. The box was double walled and the radiator was well-secured in its own box by Nissens.

Your packages may be labeled with one carrier but I’ve had stuff delivered under sub contract by all three of the majors...ie USPS delivering a FedEx ground

That makes it hard to single out the gorillas of shipping.

Then there are services like UPS SurePost, where UPS handles it up until it reaches your local Post Office. Then USPS delivers it to you.

I have always had problems with Fedex. Paid for next day delivery, they delivered it 2 weeks later, heavily damaged and then refused to take it back when I refused delivery. UPS has been good to me and quick, although handling can be questionable at times.

One of the exhaust studs on the turbo broke after nailing a pothole. It's insanely loud. Kind of impressed it still runs alright and hasn't thrown a code. Getting that fixed this week, and think I'll send the bill to PennDOT.

Still getting 27.5mpg @70mph, however I'm concerned the leaking exhaust may be making the engine run lean.
