Hit 228000 today. Three days around metro Philly. Tough roads down here. I see why you Guys’s get 100k on your suspensions, max
The roads down here seem particularly bad this spring. serious potholes everywhere.

So today I did the glove test again, but this time after a long drive and the glove got sucked in a bit (so it passed the test you might say). When I did the glove test on a cold engine two weeks ago, it inflated and I got a "high five". So I'm asking myself.. does my engine need pcv maintenance or not?

I always love reading about what every one is up to. Whether its an oil change or an engine swap, post it here.

So what is everyone up to? :D

Hi I had three codes in my 2000 s70 GLT SE Volvo a P01132 a p0455 a p1171 after doing some research I decided to check the vacuum lines I found two vacuum lines that were completely split in half one that runs from a t and goes to the oil trap and another that runs to a t that runs to the top of the intake I replace both lines and the codes went away I hope this help somebody.

Evita is looking good!

Finally changed out the AOC pump on the XC90 today... what a pain getting that driveshaft out! Other than that, not a bad job... drop the exhaust, remove the rear of the driveshaft, pull the driveshaft flange, and pull the pump and filter. Filling it wasn't bad either aside from my awful fluid pump that screws into the bottle... next time I'll use a regular transfer pump! Anyway, the AWD seems to be working now and VIDA shows there is oil pressure in the AOC, so I'd call it a success.
I just really don't understand why Volvo didn't position that pump just a little lower and to the left, then the driveshaft and exhaust wouldn't have to come down.

I also fixed a CV boot on the R... again. Maybe this huge zip tie will hold it, because the original clamp was a cheap piece of crap, stainless steel zip ties don't hold, and no auto stores carry a CV boot clamp large enough. Took it for a quick drive around the neighborhood and it feels good... hopefully I'll get to the DMV in the next day or two and register the car finally. I also need to diagnose a low boost issue. No reason my Hilton tune should only be pushing 10 PSI! I'm betting the IC hose isn't seated fully on the ETM. Although even 10 PSI feels pretty fast!

Pulled the steering rack yesterday. This has been by far the worst job in this current adventure, superseding rebuilding the CVs, and that's *including* pulling the engine. I'd rather pull the engine again than pull the steering rack, and that's with the engine and transmission *removed*.

I'm not saying I'm going to buy a brand new rack from Volvo just so I don't have to deal with it ever again, but I'm not saying it's not something I've considered.

How did you like working with Hilton? I'm thinking of getting a tune from him at some point, probably will upgrade to a 19T after I get the car running and have him tune it. I've heard nothing but good things about his work, just that I might have to wait for it, which is fine with me.

I might suspect the banjo bolt ball (check valve) may be sticking. If that little tube that the gasses pass through into the intake manifold was plugged I doubt it would clear on it's own. The ball valve closes during turbo boost conditions to prevent that air pressure from feeding into and pressurizing the crankcase and/or looping back into the intake before the turbo.

I've never understood why there needs to be two different PCV circuits on turbo engines. Why isn't it 'ok' to merely design for all crankcase gasses under all conditions to dump into the intake before the turbo (as it does under boost conditions)?

Looking sharp. I've been neglecting hand washing my S70, how much do you charge to remove sap and heavy mud? :D

I found stainless crimp clamps at a NAPA that were just big enough to fit on the CV boots. Not sure all NAPAs carry the same stock though.

Evita returned 29.9 mpg at 65-70 mph and ran sweet to Boston and back, her purge valve is clacking and P0442 is pending, so some evap TLC is planned. I’m running 91 93 octane on her since she owes me very little. Replaced cup holder with spare from parts car....kaching!

I think her Starla exhaust (?) rumbles at idle but is quieter on highway/ motorway / Pike/ freeway/ Autbahn/DeathRace NJ, but that's got no data behind it
