Re: Haldex Oil Change
Try a M8 x 30mm or 40mm bolt in the hole near the pump to push the cup of the CV Joint, it might be really stuck! If you move the exhaust near the rear driver wheel, you could have a little more room for binding the propeller shaft.

Ouch, I didn't realize the CV joint is still mated to the flange... In that case, yeah, push it from behind the flange with M8 bolts, or use a hammer and thick enough angled allen key. Once the joint is apart from the flange, just press in both CV joints together, and you'll have just enough space to take the joint out of the flange.

I just flooded the rear flange with PB blaster within the hole on the side of the flange. Doing some searching I've read the cup face part of this CV's casing seems to rust on to this flange pretty solidly on cars in snow country climates.
Hopefully the PB blaster then forcefully prying the CV joint will work.

When inserted in the Flange the CV Joint just fit tight with no play. it is most likely the bearing rusted in the inner part of the Flange.
May be try to lightly hammer the CV Joint edge from the outside to unstick it.

Got the Febest CV joint delivered today and found out it's for the front CV joint. FCPEURO mis-describes the OEM 31216175 CV joint. In the description they state "This CV joint kit is an alternative to replacing your drive shaft and is used to service the rear drive shaft only."XC70Rider wrote: ↑29 Mar 2019, 06:05 Thanks for the info and pictures.
I started to sperate the CV joint late last night. I haven't removed the center bearing yet cause I don't want the shaft to sit on exhaust.
I noticed the CV jont rubber boot is ripped apart. With the ripped boot and rusted away flange I'm replacing it with a Febest brand:

Volvo wants $300 for the OEM Joint Shaft while Febest cost only $45. Febest was just founded in 2007 within Germany so I presume they don't make OEM parts for Volvo. When it arrives next week I'll remove the OEM Joint Shaft, change the Haldex oil, filter, and the clean up the oil pump with new O-rings, filter, and bolts.
Turns out it is front CV joint. Volvo doesn't sell the rear CV joint connected to the Haldex separately. The whole propeller shaft needs to be purchased to get the rear CV joint.
Still no luck removing the rear CV joint out of the damper. The CV joint is stuck inside that rusted damper so I ordered a new AOC Oscillation Damper 31302014 for $300.
I might of damaged the rear CV joint while trying to pry it out of the damper. If so I'll need to get a propeller shaft at a JY for $250. Brand new these shafts cost over $1,000.

Did the refurbished prop shaft come with both new CV joints?
On other volvo forums I've heard about Colorado Drive Shafts. Someone said they sell new CV joints separately. Less than an hour ago I sent them an email message asking if they sell the rear CV joint.
Here's a nice descriptive thread on getting the near impossible stuck rear CV joint removed.

There's isn't much clearance room on the back of the flange to thread in the M8 bolts due to the Haldex blockage. I stripped the hex head off one of the bolts on the back of the flange. Tomorrow I'll try his method and put a small metal stud in first then the short 20mm M8 bolt on the back of the flange.

Since the Flange needs replacement I'll try to reverse it out of my garage to get the rear CV joint released. I'll need to re-tighten the front CV joint, bolt the center bearing, and throw the exhaust back in the hangers. With all bolts removed from the rear CV joint the haldex won't engage the final drive gears.vtl wrote: ↑27 Mar 2019, 11:15 Rear of the flange has 2 extra holes with threads, use M8 bolts to push the flange out. If the threads are rusted out you may have luck with a cold chisel and hammer on the CV joint itself. One more way is to unbolt the front CV and the support bearing and use the driveshaft itself as a reverse hammer (be ready to replace CV joint).
You think the prop shaft can give it enough spring action to break loose the CV joint from the flange?

David at Colorado Driveshafts just informed they do sell the CV joints for $75 each. They are made in Turkey and match the quality of the $300 OEM CV joints.
He also said the front and rear CV joints are the identical with 78mm diameter! Being inside the damper the rear CV joint just appears larger than the front?
If I have luck releasing the rear CV joint from the damper today I'll order 2 new CV joints for the shaft, replace the damper, and clean up Haldex oil pump & filter..
