So you think it was intentionally lowered, not just springs and struts that are worn out?

I assumed that was the case, only because I've seen the fad of ghetto-fication. It's related to guys who wear pants that don't fit and hang down to their thighs. I'm clueless as to how that's "cool".

Still, I really thought it was just worn out parts.

No, that sucker has been slammed. Take a picture of the front suspension and I bet we will see a bunch of aftermarket crap. All fixable with good Volvo parts from your favourite vendor or from PnP.

I expect you know this but the springs set the car height, and flex when going over bumps and holes.

The struct/shock absorber dampens the cars movement so it does not bounce so much when that happens..

Actually I did not know that about the springs. I assumed it was somehow involved in the shock absorption. Thanks for the info.

Ah, round here we refer to those as pyop, or pull your own parts. I'm going to go with new, unless I can't find it. I'd rather not have to fool with this again any time soon. With used parts, you often can't make a guess as to how much life they have left in them.

Couple of more years after 11 for “Mean Girls”

When you find a brand new part at the Pnp I’m good to go, but I can’t imagine pulling suspension bits of unknown history. You want 100-150k on suspension, I go new, too.

I've been to pull your own parts places over the years, with friends and family. Finding new, or nearly new seems to be a rare circumstance.
But I've never been with anyone who was looking for something where used was an issue. No one was ever hunting moving parts, or critical moving parts, etc.

I'm ready to start ordering parts, but I'm not 100% clear on what I'm needing. There's been mention of four-C struts (of course, it's perfectly logical) then there was mention of quick struts. I also needs springs. Aside from the alignment after the fact, I assume I'll be needing various bolts and other additional bits and pieces.

Agree with Abscate, that must have been intentionally lowered, but looking at the picture, I would say it's only the front ones. So perhaps start with the front suspension, see how it goes from there. Better remove the strut assembly from the car a take a pic. Depending what was changed or not, I would wild guess you'll need an OEM spring, maybe a strut (the 4C are on sale) and maybe a spring seat https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... 37#fitment

I think you can replace the 4C strut assembly with regular strut assembly (non adjustable), but I don't recommend the quick strut brand. Rather go with some genuine Volvo struts if money is not a problem, or with Bilstein B4. At the very least some Sachs SuperTouring may be an option
