HOW to replace an 850 Cooling Fan?

I've looked across posts related to replacing my 96 850's cooling Fan and while some get close - I haven't found a solid procedure for replacement anywhere on the web. People generally mention that it's simple, and I'm not a mechanic, so that's good.

The Fan won't run, even when hooked up to the battery, so I purchased a replacement.

I'd love to jump in and get this done, so if ANYbody has a procedure I'd absolutely love to hear it.

Actual service info for some cars.

1. Remove connector.
2. Remove bolts.
3. Remove fan.
4. Installation is opposite of removal.

It isn't too hard, you just have to get some stuff out of the way 1st. Robert DIY has a video where he takes his out while doing the radiator. I looked on mine and you don't have to remove the upper radiator hose, so skip the removing the coolant part and you don't need to lift the front of the car.

Awesome, excellent reply and I really appreciate it.

When I'm looking at the diameter of the Fan relative to the space I have to pull it up out of the engine - it doesn't seem like I'll have enough space without pulling off the upper radiator hose as well. Is there something I'm missing/misjudging there?

I have the Turbo model, don't think that would effect radiator hose placement, but idk.

On my 96 turbo it looks like it will clear without removing the upper hose. It will give you more room if you unhook it from the radiator. Might be a good time for a drain and fill of coolant anyway.

I don't think you'll have to take out the bottom two torq screws, just loosen them . The fan schroud is notched for these as locators. The top two will have to come out, if I remember correctly and they are pretty long 1" self tapping type. Try not to break the dipstick handle. Good luck

+1000 points of the fasteners and remove the dipstick too!
