Betty the Volvo is home from the body shop, with a brand new bumper cover. I told the other party's insurance guy that the rental car they could have paid for for over 2 weeks would have easily bought a new cover, not some faded thing. The body shop rejected two, one damaged in shipping, and finally just bought a new one. Bonus. The PO had just put a new one on, so this matches "like quality" per their policy.

Also a good thing I didn't just take the check and buy a used one and put it on myself - they sent $300.... Then it turned out the impact absorber panel needed to be replaced as well. They paid $1350 in the end.

Bmdub and I go back and forth about racing my T5 and his R, which finally hit the streets running a few weeks ago.

I’m usually alluding to the fact the he’s in second place, or as my Dad used to call it, first loser.

Hey all... went to the junkyard over the weekend and I bought 4 17" 17 spoke wheels with good 235-45-17 tires on them for 190$ US. Don't care much for the 9 spoke 15's.although the fifteen's have excellent tires on I'm gonna do the summer/ winter wheels and tires thing on my Black V70

Hey all... MDK here. l got my 17's on today and yes, no power tools all by hand with the neighbors jack and my jackstands. I need to do some more scrubbing, I'll get to that tommorow. I got the wheels and tires from the junkyard for 190 .. one tire was bad but, tire discounters matched it up perfectly for 160$ ... took it for a test drive and everything is nice and smooth. What do you all think?

My 2005 xc70 got a Hilton tune 5/10. Nice, getting in the queue for some exhaust upgrades.

MDK here...so, I decided to dump the antifreeze. While I'm waiting for everything to cool down, I took some FLOOD Pentrol and wiped down all the exterior plastic to make it charcoal color again. FLOOD'S Penatrol is an additive for oil base paints it's used to slow down how fast it dries, eliminating brush strokes.I found out by accident that it darkens the plastic...on any car.i got a quart of it home Depot which was being discontinued for 2 $. Yeah, like that. Washed exterior and used a microfiber cut down to shape of panels and apply.it will dry the way it's put on so make sure it's even. Will tack up in an hour. It will bead water like wax and will last for years. I did my R car a few years ago and it still looks good.

Decent! Make sure to check the manufacture dates on the sidewalls to make sure you're not on old tires.

I've never heard of that oil paint additive - that works? What's the long term effect on the plastic?

Penetrol data sheet:
http://sevenspaint.com/docs/tds/Flood%20Penetrol.pdf

So it's a petroleum distillate / solvent. Mentions treating faded fiberglass boat hulls, interesting.
