Rusted Flange Screws 2007 V70 2.5t

Hello,

I have some rusted flange screws under the hood, in the mounting bracket that covers the radiator.
It looks like the previous owner or his shop replaced the black Volvo screws with some steel ones that are rusting out.

Can someone please let me know the OE part numbers for these screws so i can replace them with the black ones that are rust resistant?

couldn't locate a parts picture that shows these screws or identifies them on a Volvo blow up picture.

Some of the OE flange screws have the words "EUFO 8.8" on them, while other OE flange screws do not have any markings on them. This leads me to assume that they are possibly varying lengths.

I found some screws on parts website but they identified them by the manufacturer parts numbers but didn't list the length or any other identifying information like the mm size or length. I don't want to change buying $30 worth of screws and they turn out to be the wrong type or worse, too long and i end up damaging something on my car.

Same problem here.
My black ones were perfect while others were crumbling away with severe rust. I was happy they turned out.
Come 2007, the last year for the P2's run, the parts feed to the assembly lines must've gotten irregular.
The good news was that the hardware bins in my local hardware store had stainless replacements.
I don't recall any of mine having grade markings. 8.8 is quite high.
There are aircraft grades and alloy hardware which are stronger and way more expensive.

Do you remember if these screws/bolts were the same size when you replaced them, so i take one to the hardware shop and just buy the same number as the rusted ones?

if i take these bolts out one at a time (only one out at any time), do i have to support anything from the bottom?

I also see that the rusted screws are starting corrosion where they contact that black mounting bracket, that why i want to get them out asap.

Hopefully someone comes through with a diagram of the mount with these flange screws shown or an OE product number from Volvo so that i can buy the legit black ones. I wish the sites listed the type and length, so i can just go to the hardware store and call it a day.

Here's the parts diagram for the section you're looking at - I think the screw and washer in question are #17 and #18.

You can get them at a good hardware. Take out one of each location and measure from under head to end of threads, in mm.
A wrecker that allows you to harvest those parts off severely crashed unuseable parts of cars is also a good source.

prwood, thank you very much for the parts diagram. That is exactly what i was looking for.

The parts diagram is interesting since it appears to suggest that all those top screws should be the same. I'll have to take a look at the two black crews and a rusted one to compare them just to double check that they are all the same. I didn't want to do that initially since I may be risking breaking something due to lack of support, but it looks like i have no choice.

Your engine bay looks immaculate! I have managed to get mine washed really well, but I haven't taken the time to shine out the aged black plastic covers. Good work!

I am a big fan of raiding our local Pick-n-Pull junkyards for this kind of hardware because they don't charge for odd nuts and bolts. It is incredibly satisfying to replace the ugly odd bolts with the proper OE hardware.

Of all the car brands I have worked on, I think Volvo has by far the best quality body hardware. If anyone knows of a more beautiful body bolt than those painted 10mm flange bolts, please let me know.

Just wanted to follow up.
I pulled one of each bolt as recommended and all three were slightly different lengths.

: Bolt Lengths

I believe that the rusted bolts were M6 x 10mm, the black flange bolt with the 8.8 on it is M6 x 16mm like in the parts page posted by the other commenter and the black flange bolt with no writing on it is M6 x 12mm or 14mm.

I believe if i buy the M6 x 16mm in the link, it will work for all the bolts, the black washers are sold separately, I'm looking at like $40 bucks for the bolts and washers, i may just but some zinc flange bolts from Amazon without the washers and just call it a day.

When i was looking at the bolts i noticed that my transmission cooler return line looked pretty gnarly and rusted as well. Would you guys worry about this transmission cooler return line looking the way it is and change it or would you leave it alone?

The metal part that goes into the radiator and the metal part that connects to the transmission have a lot of surface rust, not sure how far into the metal the rust goes.

The site's downtime and the unexpected death of my sister derailed me for a while.

I remember my header panel screws being the same length.
