Another Anti-Skid Question

Be sure if you replace the clock spring that you are aware if your vehicle has DTSC or not, there are two different units, one for each.

I have purchased used and tested clock spring units on EBay for half the price of new with much success.

Fantastic advice, MrBreeze. I just completed the purchase from FCP Euro. I looked around eBay for a bit, but I didn't find anything that I felt comfortable with, given my lack of experience with these things. I am excited to the max at the prospect of finally solving the Anti Skid challenge. Now I am looking into the best option for calibrating the new unit to my vehicle; I have read that I must bring it to the dealer, as they have the necessary software. Can anyone please tell me if this will be my only option? Are there perhaps other, less expensive options? Best forum and community ever! Thank you!

Update: I just returned from having the steering angle sensor replaced and calibrated from my local Volvo specialist. Unfortunately, it did not resolve the Anti-Skid problem, though the mechanic did confirm that the sensor was bad and needed to be replaced anyway (I replaced it with a Genuine Volvo AWD specific sensor). At this point the yaw rate sensor and steering angle sensor have been replaced, so perhaps I have isolated the problem a bit. After replacing the steering angle sensor, I had the mechanic pull the blown 7.5amp rear fuse (#23) and replace it with a fresh one, which blew immediately. Does this sound like a bad Haldex perhaps? Well, forum gods, I honor you for your assistance in helping me figure this one out. Though life circumstances precluded me from doing the job myself (something that would certainly have given me an even higher level of fulfillment), the ideas explored in this forum gave me the tools I needed to work with a very receptive mechanic to bring my lady back her legs. And so we did!

-Replaced steering column sensor
-Replaced DEM

To replace the DEM the mechanic showed me a bolt that needed to come out, which had a path obstructed from the rear axle. He said he had to drop the axle to remove the belt, so I decided to go ahead and have him install the IPD sway-bar, as well as replace the front shocks. All I can say is "Oh my goodness, those might be the best whatever dollars I spent in a super long time." For any XC90 owner looking to do something to their car that will guarantee a solid return on investment, hear me out when I say that I cannot imagine a better investment for your car than the sway bars. Check out the pics. As you can see from one of the pics, my engine mounts are toast. That's next on the list.

She has all-wheel drive again, which I verified by pushing it to the max in the Florida woods. I ultimately got stuck from pushing her far beyond a reasonable limit, but I tackled a lot of heavy stuff prior to getting stuck. Check out the pics. Could somebody please point me in the right direction for changing the lower engine mounts? Now that I have AWD back and have discovered the ultra fulfilling experience of using the knob shifter with AWD and the sway bar, I am motivated to replace the mounts. I am completely blown away by how perfect this car is. 160,000 miles and just amazing to the max. If I had to describe the driving experience in one word I would choose "zen", but like zen to the max!

For working on the car, a copy of VIDA loaded on a PC is indispensable. Not sure if there's a link specific this site, can do an internet search for "VIDA 2014D image" and something will pop up. Get it installed and working, you'll see what I mean.

Glad you're enjoying the drive, I spend a reasonable amount of money year over year keeping my cars driving like new so I know exactly the feeling you're describing. This is a really nice handling vehicle when everything is working as it should. Your comment about the sway bars is spot on, it's probably the best single investment one can make for improving handling on this car.
