Need help replacing the Fuel level sensor (Driver side)

I was expecting to find it under the metal cover, but is not there...

I'm attaching the picture of what is under the metal cover, and don't see a way to get below that?

2005 2.4 S60

So..2005 S60 2.4..the fuel level sensor...the float...is built in to the fuel pump. You have to figure out if you have a plastic gas tank or a steel one. You'll also have to find which chassis number you have... which usually means.. early 2005 or later 2005. The VIN number on the dashboard has all the data you'll need to order any parts...ok? By the way... check the other side

So according to the VIN, the pump that I should use has a level sensor, but also has a long cable that I guess goes connected at the other side of the tank to the sender unit, that also has a level sensor. and I don't know how to reach.

its under the back seat on the other side, youll could need a removal tool if its like the xc70

My level sensor was also very random so I pulled it and cleaned the potentiometer contacts and - perhaps even better - also compressed a little bit the "U" portion of the float metal rod, because when it was sitting on top of the potentiometer it had a little bit of side-play, which may be the reason the gauge was getting stuck. Since that video - sorry about the video quality, not the best - the level gauge is very accurate and I have no problem trusting it. At the end of the video I put a link how to access to the sensor, however that was on my car which has the metal tank - on plastic gas tank cars it's a different access hole and locking ring that requires a special tool sold on Ebay

The problem is that I can't reach the sensor on the driver side, there's just a metal plate underneath the round cover.

I don't know about the specific configuration on your car but you can see here after about 5:00 there are two covers under the rear seats - one is hidden under the upper section of the seat and difficult to access (need to remove the upper seat). The picture in your first post seems to be just a hole for other gas tank configurations - that cable is actually an ABS cable

MDK here... that's exactly right Oragex. The hole on the driver's side is a pre-form in case it was to be outfitted with AWD and a saddle tank..

Thank you, that's the configuration that I have, behind the back of the passenger side it's the fuel pump, and the sender is supposed to be under the seat on the drivers side, but I can't find a way to reach it.

Is it possible the sender assy is secured to the pump unit itself ? That's how it was on my model year (and a bit tricky to remove, had to separate them inside the tank)
