'99 V70 No Crank No Start
Hello, a couple weeks ago my Electronic Throttle Module had failed in my 1999 V70 Non-Turbo. I got a new Xemodex ETM and after installation the car will not start. The starter will not engage but when tested at a local parts store it passed and when bypassed with jumper cables the stater spins up fine but does not activate the flywheel. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. (It is an Automatic if that means anything)

Your starter solenoid is faulty. The starter has to do two things; spin the motor and also push the gear into the flywheel mesh. When you benched test the starter you should see the gear jump forward out of the starter.
If it does this then the problem is deeper inside the flywheel which usually means the engine has to come out

The starter does not jump out into the flywheel so I will be ordering one today and hopefully my car will run (fingers crossed it has been 21 days)

Excellent - that will fix it. The simple ones are great!
Nice 15 second clip in the Bendix here - ignore the fact that his starter is toast because his Bendix gear has broken off his starter shaft.

The new starter bench tests, spins, and pushes bend forward ok, right?
If it won't engage the flywheel, something is in the way or its the wrong starter.
.....or the flywheel teeth are stripped

I don't think this is it, but before getting into the hard stuff ... measure voltage across starter chassis and solenoid terminal while starter is energized. If you are getting less than 12V, you might have an electrical problem (battery/wires, etc).

I got the car running (spliced a new starter wire), but the car now has a dead spot in the throttle and stalls. This is a brand new xemodex throttlebody and updated software based on vin I believe (I paid for the repair and return service).
