OBD11 code P0192, 2004, V70

Code says fuel pressure sensor, low voltage. Check engine lite comes and goes. Tried ways to increase pressure. Cleaned contacts on sensor and battery for better ground. The next step and hardest, is to clean the contact of the sensor on the fuel rail to achieve a better grounding. Question is, does the sensor ground to the fuel injection bar? Canadian car without exterior fuel filter. 65,000 miles. Thanks for your help in advance.

Youngest parts dept. employe's reply: If the fuel pump is not working hard, the voltage may drop to 12.7V from the normal 12.8V, causing the check engine light to come on. If true, then there is a cause for rewriting the software!

Removed sensor and cleaned it. Now car has died a couple of times when the RPM is low. Does anyone know where I can get just the O ring for that sensor? Its bright blue in colour and about 1/2 inch in diameter. The colour probability denotes resistance to gasoline deterioration. Will call the dealer. They may keep them in their shop supplies. The valve is at the other end of the fuel rail. It may need an O ring as well!

Stalling was becomming more frequent. Changed fuel pressure rail sensor. Cost $250 CDN, $235 USD. It sends demands to fuel pump so it doesn't work at full speed all the time.

Fuel consumption is less. Has dropped from 10.8 liters/100kms. (the best it ever did prior) to 9.7liters/100kms. Summer tires and A/C on.

Dealer called to say the cheque is in the mail. Fuel consumption down to 8.5 liters/100 kilometers on a 94 octane gasoline. Thanks moderator!

The failure of the pressure sensor did not show up on the messages, and took a long time to turn on the check engine light.
