Hi all,
I’ve just finished reading through another thread where the P0600 serial communication error code made an appearance viewtopic.php?f=1&p=445730#p445730
I guess I have a few things to check on the ‘00 V70 n/a m/t, though my circumstances are a bit different.
My SRS light is on. I recently swapped steering wheels but kept the same airbag. SRS light remained on.
I also got a P0600 only after the swap. Could the wiring in the steering wheel cause the error, or is it more likely somewhere else?
Thanks in advance for any help! Now, if can only get my brother’s VIDA to work ...
Bruno

In VIDA that maps to an ECM internal fault, not a comm error.
That’s ugly

Yeah, but’s let’s not panic yet. Do you have the ECM removal tool ? Worth cleaning connections first
Henry can clone your ECM remotely, worse case.

Thanks! It looks like I'll be getting an ECM removal tool veerrrry soon.
Will I get another warning besides the CEL as to when it finally quits, or will it just leave me stranded? The car is actually running great otherwise.

I’m guessing this one of those venial sins that you can ignore until you sell it to a family member

Actually Henry can't clone Denso ECMs on P80s. The best he suggested when I came upon this issue is to swap (by means of desolder) the Eprom from one ECM to another allowing key codes to transfer.
The contacts will be due for a refresh with contact cleaner at this age. I hope this is your issue.

Argh..that is good to know. How nasty is the desolder job? I do have a jeweler / ham radio friend who can do these miracles for a cup of coffeeprecopster wrote: ↑10 Jul 2019, 02:42 Actually Henry can't clone Denso ECMs on P80s. I know which chip it was; a 10 pin surface mount small IC from memory but I didn't end up doing it as customer had incorrectly diagnosed the problem. It was doable with a magnifier.
