If the car is still running rich, you should be able to smell gas in the exhaust even after warmup, no? That'd be easier than pulling the plugs...
The average will only stabilize after you've driven the car for a while. Please let us know how things are then.

The only time that I had ever smelled gas from startup was at work, the Saturday or Sunday that the issue started, when I went in my car on break and sat in the AC.

The average managed to stabilize and it currently sits around 9.0 L/100KM after driving pretty far. I got an oil change too and put in 5w30 full synthetic castrol

Still not sure the year and model, but if a manual P80 or P2 with a turbo, if you aren't doing a lot of highway driving, 26 mpg is about what you'd expect.

Yeah exactly, it seems to be back to normal. Model is a 2004 S60 T5.

You might have to replace that aftermarket ETC sensor with another one in about one year. If you get tired of doing that job, a Volvo one will cost more but last 20 years.

Abscate is correct, use only Volvo or Wahler.

I wrote a DIY tstat and ECT w/o the need to remove the PS Pump.
When you buy the Wahler (or Volvo) tstat, it comes as a combo: tstat itself, ECT and upper + lower housing.
There is a way to replace the tstat + ECT w/o the need to remove the PS Pump.
Info in forum.

The Wahler ECT lasts some 120K or so.

I would use a Volvo one but the nearest dealership is about 3 or 4 hours away. I would have to ship it. At least when it happens next time I will know what the issue is
