Buying a used volvo (V70)

I've never owned a volvo before so I'm just curious if anybody has any suggestions/advice when looking at a used one. The car in question is a 2005 V70 with a 5-speed automatic transmission and a 2.5L engine with the turbo. The odometer reads ~130k. Priced at $7000.

On the surface, everything looks pretty good - service records from dealership and what not. Any warnings/advice/suggestions would be much appreciated.

Several things can go wrong by 130k. Test or look for PCV work. Look into papers see if in the last visits there were some electrical problems: that may mean there is an electrical issue. The 2005 had the CEM water ingress, rather costly to fix

These are quick checks, will give you an idea if you'll need to put money in repairs. The suspension also needs replaced at this point

$7000 looks expensive but I guess this is a main dealer sale. You'll need another $1500 for maintenance and by all means a garage specialized in Volvo cars. Without such garage I would look elsewhere. The main dealer is not only expensive but also not always honest

MDK here...is this the used up car department? So here it goes... mileage,year, condition. Inside/ outside. Considering it's a 14 yr old car. @7000$ ?? Way to much money.. also the fact you have not posted any photos.. have you carfaxed it? Dealership's lie ... the game is minimum to their double there money if not more. If it was me ..I would offer 3500$ taxes, title included.And I would also cash it out...they can keep their extended warranty. I haven't had a car payment since 1992. But then again I'm an @$$.. but you'll have to make your own decision. I can drive up to Columbus Ohio... today and get a 2003 v70 for a thousand bucks. Perhaps my post will bring you some perspective on the car buying decision no matter what "badge" you would like to drive.... rolling on... over and out.

What made you look at this car? Be honest.
If you like it for it's styling, safety and Volvo name, that's nice but those features can be found on lots of cars today.
Ignore the Volvo name at this time. These are great cars but need a bit of a knowledge base before buying well used.

If you definitively decided you want a V70, again as above, this is one quite expensive but go test drive it. THEN TEST DRIVE 8 OTHERS.

You'll feel differences like smoothness and chatters, wallowing and nimbleness, oomph and turbo lag.

Zero in more and provide us with a few pics and details. Then we can dump a raft of particulars for you to check on.

$7000 is an absolutely ridiculous price, $3500 at the most...and you'll still have to refresh a number of components.

I recently bought 2006 V70 NA off craigslist from original owner. 100k, garage kept for $3K. I had been looking for approx. 1 yr. Sweet car, but I still knew over the next year or so I'll probably be putting at least $1500 into it just to get it where I want to be. That's me doing all the work, but I'll have a dependable vehicle for another 100k. Price seems a little steep to me. If your not doing your own work, you may find yourself putting another $2 or 3k into it, depending on what it will need. There will always be a surprise.

I regularly see P2 wagons advertised in CL, Autotrader, Cargurus, ect. typically in the $3500 - $4500 range for an '05 - '07. And as "GlennG2759" mentioned, It will often take $1500, own work, to get it sorted (suspension refresh, engine mounts, timing belt, PCV, fluids, tires, ect.)
