So I settled on Bridgestone POTENZA S001 as nobody else had anything close to the correct Michelin... I hope I am not going to regret it! Lol. Time will tell! June
Did you purchase those for your S80 and are they the run flats?
Yes my S80 and I don't know if they are run flat. Does that make a difference? I hate that Michelin discontinued the correct tires! With those I know what to expect. 25 to 30K of smooth quiet dependability. The Bridgestone come with a 30 day warranty if dissatisfied they will remove them and put something else on. I really hate that these cars are getting old! June
There's no such thing as "The correct tyre" as long as size, load and speed indexes match so you will be fine. Though different tyres do sound and feel a bit different I agree. And stay away from RFT, they've got a poor and noisy ride in general due to the stiff sidewalls.

I agree, don't get too hung up on having the OEM tire. Of course, it can sometimes be the best option being that it's the tire that Volvo intended to be used on your car, however your S80 is 15 years old... there are many newer model tires that are better, I'm sure!
I believe the OEM tires for the XC90 were a discontinued Pirelli model. I ended up going with Nokian zLine A/S 255/50R19s, and I've been happy with them. Nice and smooth, quiet ride, and great traction in the rain. Plus for that massive size, they were really cheap... I think I paid around $450 at Simple Tire.

I don't believe June pay that much for it but it probably was not the run flats either. Costco provided that and another 20 tires that would work depending on her needs.

I agree, depending on one's driving habit and area in the country many tires will work for the same car. Not sure if this is the case now but years ago some OEM tires were made specifically for new cars with less tread so good for only 20~25K miles.

I actually paid more! I was unaware the tire was a run flat tire. Taking advice from you guys on the run flat aspect, I went back the next morning and canceled the order, and reordered a inexpensive set of Uniroyal tires as a stopgap set until Michelin gets the Primacy 4 to market.

The Uniroyal tires were installed yesterday and the European drive feeling is gone. Now it feels like a big Buick on the road. Even the Steering feels different. Like it went from 75% power assist to 100%. No feel to the wheel at all during lower speeds in particular. Time will tell on stopping distance and wet weather driving has been effected. Specifications are the same tire wise, but drive completely different. June

Replaced the coolant temp sensor today. Temp readings are quicker, low speed fan is finally working! Coolant no longer spilling over!
I'm hoping my mileage may change too. Been running rich for a while.

I was surprised at how tight the thermostat housing bolts were even though I just replaced them last week. I decided not to play around this time. I put a thin smear of antisieze on them. I dont plan on fighting with those in the future.

Wrapped up the PCV in the S60 the other day, then helped install iPd lowering springs and an adjustable panhard bar in my cousin's 240. That car rides way better now! Way less body roll than the stock springs! I can't wait to feel it once he gets the sway bars!

Took the R to its first meet last night and talked to a few other local Volvo enthusiasts. I love being able to drive it now, but it's just incredibly annoying that it won't boost more than 10 PSI. I'm really thinking it may be the turbo at this point, I can't find anything else wrong. My cousin also tells me that the car puffs a good amount of black smoke every time I get on the throttle... which doesn't surprise me, I'm getting 15 MPG at best with the AC running and with the lack of boost, I'm not at all surprised it's running crazy rich.

Anyone got a cheap K24? Haha

June: Uniroyals are cheap for a reason..

Michelins are almost always good. I've seen some people on here get Nokians which are also good. Good Years European made tyres are nice and well priced but I'm not sure if they're for the European market only. Eagle F1 for example.

I have installed new suspensions front and rear (except springs for the rear), and the big noise I had thinking it was coming from the clutch was done by a front spring on two points: the spring itself and suspension strut support Bearing front axle upper.
I replace parts stamped Volvo on them, and the car is a 1995 model. These seems to be originals parts... By this work, I re discover my car.

The next jobs will be, replace the main silencer, and fix the noise I hear from the rear brakes pads on the left side (LHD).

!

I have to step in here and defend the Pilots. I had Pilot Super Sports on my old Fiesta and they were great tires...for sporting applications. Lots of grip, good wet performance, decent treadwear for soft tires, quiet enough on the highway. Probably not the best-suited to an S80, but good tires in their own right.
