Well,
2004 T6 is gone... Lady locked up her brakes in front of me and I tagged her at 15MPH, then a jerk in a Camry behind me was playing on his phone and rear ended me at 65MPH.
Damage to the Volvo looked all cosmetic. no frame damage, no drivetrain damage, but the repair shop estimated 10K. Insurance gave me $750 more than I paid for it a month and a half ago, so I guess I shouldn't be too upset.
Picked up a 2005 V8 yesterday with 112K miles. only issues are the passenger side outside mirror housing is cracked, covers for the headlight washers are missing, and It has a small oil leak at the rear of the engine. Cant see where it's coming from though. Cleaned with with carb cleaner until everything was squeeky clean. we shall see in a couple days where it's coming from.
Any common places for oil leaks on the back side of the engine?
Thanks
no more T6...

Valve covers. That model year you also have to watch out for the balance shaft.

There was a design flaw that caused water to pool where it shouldn’t and cause the bearings on balance shaft to rust and lose lubrication5ft24 wrote: ↑20 Aug 2019, 08:32What issues does it have with the balance shaft?Masscomguru wrote: ↑19 Aug 2019, 21:46 Valve covers. Any way to find out if it has been replaced? Dealer says they won't give me any service records because they have the customers names on them. I told them all I wanted to know is what repairs and services had been done, not copies of work orders...

Unfortunately I don't know how to check that.
I'm always surprised when dealers reply with that answer. It's happened to me as well. I'm sure neither of us asked "Can you tell me when the last oil change was done? I want to harvest the previous owner's private information...."

I can tell you each dealer is independent as far as service records go. One dealer cannot see work preformed at second dealer. I have ran into this with my S80. So unless you have the receipt or know what was done at witch dealer you have no chance of finding out even if you are the original owner. I think service records should be available via computer at least to the service advisors. Juneamblerman wrote: ↑20 Aug 2019, 13:53Unfortunately I don't know how to check that.

Not in detail enough. For the fun of it I ran my S80 carfax about two years ago just to see what Carfax would have to say. Paid for several when buying daughter's car and had a extra one left. I was surprised how little detail the dealers I have serviced with had reported. It did show the one warranty repair at two years old when the shift handle was replaced detailed enough to mention the shifter. Receipts or the file from the service dealer will tell. June
