Went from P6 (Stock) on a red 83 VW GTI with gold BBS to Sumitomo's. Much stiffer tire less road feel. Have not used Pirellis since then. The ones on the GTI wore too quickly (less than 25K) but that's in my younger days of driving.

EDIT: They still are suppose to be good tires. Michelin unfortunately has been the dominant brand.

Pirelli has a reputation for short life span here. Michelin is the go to premium brand. Closely followed by Continental.

For sure, my mom had Primewell PS830 Tourings (Firestone generic brand tire) and they were absolutely horrendous. They were installed as a replacement for another Primewell tire that was recalled (which was on the car), and although the original tires weren't the best, they were worlds better than the garbage they replaced them with. They were loud as hell (this was on a 2013 Elantra, not the quietest car, but with these tires it was LOUD) and the traction in both wet and dry sucked. When we sold the car in March, the tires were maybe 20k miles old and already pretty worn out. Absolutely awful tires... I'd never buy them again. Fortunately I refuse to give Firestone my business anymore (for other reasons), so I won't have to worry about that!
No more cheap tires!

Other than that I'm sure they are fine tires. June
Now I'm not going to say you're wrong as perceived levels of grip is subjective but statistically, the Pilot Sport 4s are significantly better tyres with shorter stopping distances in both wet and dry, combined with higher max cornering speed. Arguably, they are the best road tyre currently on the market, despite having been around for 3 years now. The PS4s are 'max performance tyres' afterall, whereas the Primacy 3s are 'premium touring tyres'; the Primacy is more comfortable, quieter and wears a whole lot better, but the PS4s are inherently the better performance tyre.

Here is a raft of reviews comparing the PS4s with their competitors since its release in 2016. Now admittedly there is no direct comparison between the PS4s and Primacy 3s, as they are not in the same category and so will not be grouped together. However, if you look at the independent data from testers like ADAC or AutoBild or NZ Testing, you can find all the relevant statistics for both tyres from their website. Be mindful that the tyres are not always tested at the same size, which will impact performance.
http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Miche ... port-4.htm

On a side note, the Primacy 4s have been out for close to six months already here in the EU, I'm rather surprised they arent available in the US yet.
Reviews mean diddly squat! Actual application I can floor my S80 from a stop with the Primacy 3 tires hot on dry pavement without wheel spin (only tire that can do that so far on my car). In fact the Primacy 3 is a tire design for larger European sedans. Factory tire BMW 7 and Benz S class among the same era S80 T6. It's not only quiet, but was a tire with a Summer designation the MXM4 All Season.

The Volvo dealer ended carrying the Primacy 3, MXM4 for the Piot Sport series. On a large car that makes 280 ft. Pounds of torque at 1,800 rpm the pilot sport sucked. After all I threw away a 6 month old set and had to accept MXM4 from a independent Michelin dealer. Had Piot Sport been great I would never have done that.

I saw someone loved the Piot Sport on a Ford Fiesta. No way a Fiesta weighs in at 4,000 pounds or stock makes it's torque at such low rpms. Likely that makes a big difference at least with the ungodly flat spots after overnight parking especially after a long hot drive minimal, or unwanted wheel spin. June

Began replacing the rear exhaust cam seal on the S90. What a pain! It's nearly impossible to tap the seal in there with the maybe 4" between the head and firewall, not to mention those heater hoses right in the way. This is a 10 minute job on a P80!
If only it seated evenly, I have half of the seal ~2mm in, with the other side flush with the head. Maybe I can figure something out tomorrow so I can pull the '01 S60 in the garage and swap out the radiator.

The one time a longitudinal engine is harder to work on!

Been crazy busy working 12 hour shifts, but I got a day off at the perfect time... I got to eat lunch with Robert!

He's a great guy. 10/10 recommend you buy him lunch if he is ever passing though your area.

Seriously, if it wasn't for Robert's videos my T5 (and I'm sure many more Volvos) would have ended up in the scrapyard a long time ago.
