2006 V70 rear swaybar endlinks ?

Post by GlennG2759 »

I just replaced my front endlinks on '06 V70 NA FWD with Meyle HD kit. I went to do the rears and I can't find them. I know this may sound like a stupid question but is there a possibility there was some kind of design change in late 2006 or it didn't come with a rear swaybar. Thanks in advance. G.G.

They sure should be there. Unless the PO removed them. Though I don't know why anyone would.
Rear sway bar end links are available for 2006's.

Did your new fronts have torx end pockets on the studs? Or just hex?

Personally, I get the German ones with the torx end pockets - less likely to strip out when it comes time for removal.

I've been some doing some research and there seems to be a couple of different versions of rear suspension (L5,L6). There didn't even seem to be enough room for swaybar, although there was an eyelet the right size for an upper mount on what I would call an upper control arm (maybe?). I doubt PO took it out (original owner averaged under 8k year, Volvo service, garage kept). Meyle links seem to be quality product, couple mm's thicker, no torx or allen anti-spin, flats for wrench on ball side. Only time will tell. Thanks for input.

I believe some models did not come with rear sway bars.

Correct. My turbo has one. A same year NA that's in the family doesn't and there's no sign it's ever been there

Bizarre, Sorry if I mislead you. I have yet to work on an NA FWD only P2.

Whether you look up the B5244S or B5244S6 the same end links are populated.

So there is NO sway bar present at all?

Edit: I just spent a couple hours under our 04 V70AWD today and was debating on replacing the rear sway bar due to its corroded state. Links looked perfect.

Nope, no swaybar, hence no endlinks. I noticed when I ordered them from Fcp (will they fit my car), there was an L5 designation wonder if that means anything. Was this an option in 2006 or was somebody at the factory having a bad day. The eyelet on upper rear control arm where I think the endlink would go shows no scarring on either side that would indicate an endlink was bolted or went through it. Also no sign of damage or scrapes underneath, that somebody would've said the heck with it I'll take it out. Also if some of this particular model came without the swaybar, what was the deciding factor.
Random? Weird, huh?

Would he be worth putting one in, I would imagine all the mount are there. Noticeable ride difference?
