V40 Rust

Hi I have had my V40 for just coming up to 12 months, the wings were rusted out so replaced them and the head light lense was smashed so replaced that too apart from that the car has been faultless, it goes like a train, handles pretty good and I know every morning I put the key in the ignition she will fire up into life a purr like a kitten lol.
Now just had its first MOT in my possession and as u may know these cars are LOW so couldn't really see underneath, so when they've put her on the ramps they have found rust all under the car not bad rust just surface rust, I'm not going to sell her as she only cost me $850 cos of the wings and headlight damage but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
