1999 S80 2.9 INTERIOR coolant leak.

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

1999 S80 2.9 INTERIOR coolant leak.

Post by volvoloco »

Has anyone seen an S80 develop a coolant leak inside the car leaving a stain down the left side of the tranny hump down to the gas pedal? I'm not sure I actually have a leak as there is no smell associated with it. I'm trying to decide if my driving age daughter dropped a blue colored 7-11 slushy or if I really have a problem. She says no. I believe her, she's an honest kid, plus it doesn't smell like a slushy either!.

Looks like the heater hose goes through the firewall directly above tranny hump and guess the heater core is somewhere up in that tight maze of center console dashboard controls.

Any thoughts?

If it is a leak, has anybody had any problems using Stop Leak products. This has got to be a small leak it it exists.

157,000 miles.

Thanks.

Do not use any stop-leak kind of stuff. Can hurt more than heal. You might check on Volvospeed for a heater core replacement thread or in the repair section. Have read it is not very difficult.

That's just too perfect not to be it. It looks like a really simple repair and cheaper than Stop Leak. Looks like my daughter right!!

Thanks sseir39. you're the bomb!

Hi, i'm new on site. U have volvo s80 recently in service for mechanical repairs on gear, motor absorbers,... My question is: on heater core my clips are not fully pressed and have small leaks. My carpet is wet. how could i put clips fully back in? I already try, but i'm dont want to broke it... Tks.

Sometimes these quick fittings need the clips pushed in as far as they can go, to seat the tube properly. Hope this helps,

They are officialy one use clips if I am not mistaken, but you are able to reuse them (I did as well). You can try to replace the rubber seals & clips, I chose to replace the whole unit all together. Not a very difficult job, but space is limited and I needed to remove/remove some trim to remove the heatercore.
