Problems woth coil wires

Post by Pipewipe »

Hi, i just purchased a xc70 2006. It started getting slugish when accelerating. I looked at the coils and noticed the wires were cracked right where they go into the connector. So i pluged in my OBD2 and it said #4 coil malfunction. I went to a pic-n-pull got another connector and replaced the bad one. Now i get #4 and #5 malfunction. I go back and uncover all the coil wires. There are cracks everywhere. I figure when i moved the wires they must have cracked do to the heat baking them. The cover was already missing so the previous owner must have known about the traped heat problem. What do i do now.

Had the same problem, with the wires, resulting in hard starting.
I used this Star brite Liquid Electrical Tape - 4 oz Can with Brush Applicator https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000AXNOD/re ... JDbVRSS86S
Recommend by Scotty Kilmer. This is the only way without replacing the harness. Apply multiple layer and after tape heat resistant electrical tape. Peel off the brittle and cracked pieces of the insulation.
Scotch Vinyl Electrical Tape Super 88, 3/4 in x 36 yds, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002FTGF8/re ... JDbMHFEEYT
