The passenger side hood release won't quite let the hood come up. I've tried pulling extra on the release cable in the footwell but didn't work.
I have to get in the there to replace my MAF and change oil so I've quit driving it until I can get in there.
My last resort is the cut the hoop off with a sawzall through the little crack that is there from the driver side releasing, and then weld it back.... but would rather not do it that way.
Is there another way to get at the release mechanism? Or anyone have any other suggestions on getting it open?
Thank you.
Can't open hood of 2006 V70.

Have somebody pull and hold the release cable, push down hard on the hood.

Have tried that.... a lot. Doesn't work.
Also tried pulling cable with pliers to give some extra pull while some one tried on outside. Passenger side still stuck.
Not looking forward to the sawzall and reweld method but got to get in there somehow.

Try also to push a little or to lift on the side of the hood that has released.
You will need to remove the front grid - careful with the attaching point, undo all of them gently one by one both top and bottom ones - do not skip anyone, in case you break those plastic hooks on the bumper cover, glue the small pieces back with some Superglue.
Remove the horn (1 bolt). Near the latch area, toss or remove the large rubber 'gasket' that goes around the grid opening - find the securing clips.
Use a flashlight to look inside at the latch see how it sits. You won't be able to see or reach the release tab from this angle. I put images with the latches out of the car - use this image to get an idea about the release metal tab on the passenger latch - notice the direction of movement of each end of this tab. For the right side (pass side) latch, use a wire hanger hook - the wire needs to be quite stiff so as not to bend - notice the size of the hook, it's perhaps 1 inch long. Reach with the wire from the small rectangular hole under the plastic housing of the latch - toss first with your finger the rubber piece that is covering this hole - you may pass your hand through the front grill hole. May try to push or pull at the hood at same time ans the release tab will be difficult to move when the hood is stuck.
If this doesn't work, you may want to cut holes into the latch plastic housing, as seen on the video - this should be a last choice. Careful on the left side latch, wires for the microswitch are passing close. A dremel with a small wheel should be a good choice, otherwise a heavy duty cutter and thick leather gloves for safety.

Was out at the local p-n-p today. There was a S70 with a driver's side latch that would not release. I picked up a square plastic beam that was there and wedged it between the hood and bumper (Keep a upward pressure on the hood). Pulled the lever and it release ....
