The radiator fan control box (Bosh) has failed "ON" common fault easy and cheap fix is purchase a V70 /XC70 complete radiator fan unit. In UK they are $30 and your parts should warrantee the replacement unit is good. Be sure to read off the part number and quote that when sourcing replacement. If you look on www.xc70.com forum search fan replacement you will find comprehensive guide.

The same thing started happening for me today while driving my 2001 V70 2.4T (the fan went to full regardless of setting). I pulled the fuse since it didn't stop after I turned off the engine. I want to get the part ordered so I can stop pulling the fuse.

Can anyone confirm that the module is called "Blower Motor Resistor", for example, Behr 8693262? The name makes it sound like the older-style resistor block that would be paired up with a mechanical switch to give about 4 speeds, as shown in the youtube video linked above by DCM, but I gather from this thread and a 2005 wiring diagram I found online that the P2 actually has a transistorized module that provides a wider range of settings. Further, the transistorized module would have the opportunity to short out and make the fan run full all the time, whereas the simple resistor block couldn't short in a way that it makes the fan run when the car is off.

But FCP and other sources don't show a part by any other name for this model. Also, based on the photos, it looks like it has two connectors, one with two terminals that would go the the blower, the other with four that agrees with the wiring diagram (one for power, one for ground, two signal to CCM).

Finally, how much current to the blower motor would be excessive? I could measure it but I don't know what it should be.

sound like such a simple fix but...
where is that "Power Transistor" under the dash on the passenger side located exactly on the xc70 2004?
what part do i need to get?

Same as in the video. I also did a video on this, I have a few tips but the glove box damper breaks on most situations, and your glove box will drop like a rock when opened - this damper can be replaced and when installed, it must be placed in the 'extended' position. www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6MSCI59JUI
