Hello, and thanks in advance for those that help.
I have a C70 2007 T5 Automatic.
I'm trying to finish timing my car. I did it few times now due to my errors, but it was a good practice.
I had to replace the camshaft front oil seal so I had to take the pulleys. I had the tool hold the camshaft in the horizontal position. But there is two horizontal position, and one is totally different from the other (I think).
So my question is which one is the correct one.
There is a notch in both of them for the camshaft router, where this notch have to be?
I'm pretty sure I didn't tight the bolts for the pulleys strong enough when I put them back so I thinks they turn and the camshaft didn't, so I want to do the whole job again and align correctly.
Thanks everyone again

On the rear of the cams:
1. The two slots, one each camshaft should be horizontal (3:00 to 9:00).
2. The slots are off center. Intake should be above center and exhaust below center.
There is a tool that bolts on the rear of the cams and keep the camshafts in the correct position as you align the other components. There is a tool that bolts on the rear of the cams and keep the camshafts in the correct position as you align the other components.
Go to eBay and search for "Volvo Timing tool set".

One more question, now is about the crankshaft pulley.
I took the pulley out of the crankshaft and need help to put it back.
Is the crankshaft have any mark to reinsert the crankshaft pulley??
I can see in the pulley the marks, and also the line where is a little wider inside the pulley.
But I need a mark on the crankshaft to install the pulley. Any help appreciate it.
Thanks

The wider spine is an alignment key. There is only one so there is only one alignment that will let the two pieces go together.
The tool in the center of the kit above is the Crankshaft Alignment Tool. It is used to lock the camshaft in the correct position for timing alignment, the datum for everything else.

Blue is the Crankshaft alignment tool. Inserts in alignment hole located under the starter. Starter removal required.
Green is the Camshaft alignment tool. Backside of cams.
Yellow is used to hold the front of the camshafts to the camshaft cover.
Browns are the Camshaft cover tools. Use to maintain even pressure on the camshaft cover when removing and installing the camshaft cover so that one does not warp the cover. The cover is line matched to the head at the factory. If you damage it you cannot just go and get another one. You would need to have a machinist work another one to match the head.

Thank you so much, very nice explanation..
I'm already an expert on disassemble to replace the timing belt, obviously not so good to put it back together.
I do have the tool and I know exactly how to lock the camshafts , so that's good .
Two questions please about the crankshaft alignment tool. How do I put it in? Shel I turn the crank till I feel a click?? Is it there is only one hole to insert it in?
And, is the pulley goes only in one position or when the crank is in position I should synchronize with the red line (in my pic)
Thank you

In the picture the crankshaft is aligned. Just make sure you are looking straight on.tango_1000 wrote: ↑24 Oct 2019, 09:38 Two questions please about the crankshaft alignment tool. How do I put it in? Shel I turn the crank till I feel a click?? Is it there is only one hole to insert it in?
One round hole for the alignment pin. There is a recess in the block for the key on the side of the tool.
To install the crankshaft alignment/locking tool.
1. Move the crankshaft to the position in your picture.
2. Remove Starter.
3. Remove plug on block.
4 Insert Crankshaft alignment tool.
5 Turn crankshaft a little bit clockwise until the Crankshaft alignment tool goes in all the way. May sure the key goes in the recess .
6. Turn Crankshaft counterclockwise as far as you can. The two marks in the picture will be perfectly aligned.
Done

Sorry, this was an old picture, maybe a day or two old, the crank pulley is now off the crankshaft.
So I need to reinsert the crankshaft pulley. But in any case, before I took it apart I did put the red line with the red mark, so I guess I'm very near. Can I go around this point back and forth until the key goes in the recess?
Then when find I will be sure to insert the pulley right in the marks.
Thank you so much for your time and help.
