Crank No Start

Post by Rmartinez »

I have a 2006 XC90 over 200k miles while driving it suddenly stalled and had to pull onto the curb, tried to run codes but it kept saying No Freeze frame or data on computer.. It’s been a couple weeks since it stopped working, Battery is fine, fuel pump engages as well as to fuel to the rail. I’m thinking Ecm or Possible Crankshaft sensor? Any ideas..

Volvo-DiCE would tell you more, like if the network is working. You can get a DiCE clone on eBay. We have threads here on MVS on which VIDA software distro to use, where to get it, how to install and trouble shoot any problems.

In the mean time. Give it a three second shot of starting fluid, see if it fires up. If it does it is a fuel issue.

You are about 7 years past the era where you can look at cars and fix them - and parts swappiing will cost you 5x what a VIDA clone will.

Decision tree is indeed to buy VIDA or scrap it out and get a new ride.

200K on a Volvo is just getting broken in. One mistaken part change can cost more in time and money then a Vida-DiCE.

What does "distro" mean? "VIDA software distro to use"

Which one is better? Thanks.

Yes, there are a ton of Volvo codes that do not show up on an OBDII scanner. But that's not the point. VIDA contains all of the diagnostics, repair procedures and the parts catalog for your car. Flying blind without it
