Meanwhile just drive with the dipstick up or remove the O-ring. If you smell burning oil inside the car you know it is venting quite a bit.cfelberg wrote: ↑09 Nov 2019, 09:37 I'll keep on eye on the dipstick. I checked it a couple of times within the last few days and it may have moved up a millimeter if at all. I'm just not sure what the next step would be - I was hoping there was an item that I overlooked that was causing a blockage. Thanks!

I forgot. After I installed the PCV system on my 98 S70 T5 it still did not work well. It's did stop the oil dipstick gushing however. It been awhile and I have not done another PCV but if my memory serves me right I found a plug vacuum hose going to the PTC. I think that's call the PTC.MoVolvos wrote: ↑09 Nov 2019, 17:13Meanwhile just drive with the dipstick up or remove the O-ring. EDIT: Just read the OP and I cleaned the PTC also and it was a vacuum line going to it that was plugged.

Yeah, I was hoping it was due to PTC after reading some posts about it but mine was completely clear, so that's why I was left scratching my head. Car seems to be running well at this point, so I guess I will do what you suggested with the dip stick and continue to monitor it.

If the glove sucked inward real well at idle but then inflated when under load then it might just be that your engine has more blow-by than than the PCV system is capable of evacuating from the crankcase.

Do you mean the vacuum line is clear also?cfelberg wrote: ↑09 Nov 2019, 18:05 Yeah, I was hoping it was due to PTC after reading some posts about it but mine was completely clear, so that's why I was left scratching my head. A 5W-40 would do well in the 2002. Try the Rotella T6. An oil change is cheap so worth a try.

Are there other small or medium vacuum lines related to the PCV? I think it was around 2012 when I did the work. If so, remove and push air through those to double check.cfelberg wrote: ↑09 Nov 2019, 18:38Yes, it is a brand new line.MoVolvos wrote: ↑09 Nov 2019, 18:35Do you mean the vacuum line is clear also?cfelberg wrote: ↑09 Nov 2019, 18:05 Yeah, I was hoping it was due to PTC after reading some posts about it but mine was completely clear, so that's why I was left scratching my head. There are a couple of small vacuum lines that enter the turbo intake tube very near the PTC on their own nipples, but not connected to the PTC directly. Are these the ones you are thinking of?

It's been awhile.MoVolvos wrote: ↑09 Nov 2019, 18:53There is just one hose that goes directly to the top of the PTC and it is the hose from that long 90 degree hose assembly from the breather box.
