In looking at the website and doing a little more research I'm wondering if we can really DIY clone the chips? My research led me to a Cloning Device ("KEYDIY KD-X2 Remote Maker Unlocker and Generator-Transponder Cloning Device with 96bit 48 Transponder Copy Function") which does not require a token, whatever that means also. Does anyone have the know how to operate this device?

I’m not sure I buy that you can create a chip from just the module. There is also a limited number of keys allowed, for instance,so what if you run out of space?
I’ll give this a 3/10 chance of working.

I have not done any reading on how the ignition works. Would you know how to use the device from just looking at it? I was quoted $150 for a cut key and cloning from a local locksmith. If I knew that worked I wouldn't mind pitching in with others to make it an MVS Loaner Tool?

I think the cloning ipunits are easy to use, but I remember jimmy posting on how complex the immob is on 1999 on cars. I think there is a reason why , to date, it hasn’t been hacked on these pages.
I guess if you clone the RFID chip inthe key, it should work?
What doesn’t seem to work is people trying to put a new key code into the car system

The reference to NO token is tangentially a reference to the cryptographic method used in payment services by Uk Challenger Banks like Monzo and Starling Bank but you do have Apple Pay and Google Pay.In these no exchange of account information is made verification of the transaction and authorisation are encrypted tokens which time and date stamp and identify certain other data such as geolocation, data network, etc. In the context of chip cloning requiring a token implies data exchange and authorisation with another party (Volvo Gothenberg) and therfore VIDA DiCE or the current Volvo range diagnostic and after sales system.
The Central locking/Volvo Guard/Immobiliser system is decentralised speeking to each component over the CAN BUS I believe it generates some form of rolling code with the plip key, rather than simply read the frequency/code of the transponder.

Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a 53 plate (2004) v70 T5 which came with one original flip remote with a floppy blade.
I have ordered a new empty shell but started to chicken out ripping the old one apart being scared damaging the transponder.
After having a good look at my options I went all in and ordered the following items
Aliexpress
1 pc Vvdi mini key tool including 3pc universal remote (this includes licence for 1 free ID48 clone per day for one year)
10 pc xhorse id48 transponder chips
Price for these £130.38 delivered including taxes
From a UK seller 2pc xhorse remote key blade Volvo NE66
Price for these £6.87 delivered
I have a local independent locksmith who will cut both blades for £15 while I wait at the shop.
The cheapest quote I could get from a independent locksmith was £150 for one clone key including cloned remote so figured might as well give it a try myself.
Plan of action is
- read the original transponder and clone it 3 times
- read the original remote and clone it twice
- fit the 2 blades and 2 of the clone transponders into the programmable remotes that come with the tool and use these as daily keys for the wife and myself
- fit the 3rd transponder and the blade/electronics from the original key into the new shell I ordered and keep in a safe place
I've done lots of research regarding this and come from a electronic background with plenty of experience in mobile phone repairs and unlocking when unlocking was still technical and not a buy the code thing. This setup should allow me to do what I want but there's a few open questions
As far as I know the cloned transponders will be absolutely identical to the original one so the car will never know the difference so should be good on that side
Regarding the remotes I'm not really sure if using 2 cloned remotes will confuse the car/remotes because of the rolling key thing. I know the automatic seat memory thing won't work and not bothered about it.
worst thing that could happen I end up with a usable and non floppy original key/remote and have 2 spare keys that will manually open and start the car without the remote functionality.
If anyone has experience with this tool or these programmable remotes I'd be grateful for any tips
Regards

Did this work for you? I'm about to go down the same path and purchased the same items, but now I'm afraid I'll mess up my only key! We have a 2002 Eurovan (we're in the US) and only have one key. It's next to impossible to find someone to program these keys here. I'd love to hear how this turned out for you!
