I pulled this connector out to check it while I'm waiting for a PCV kit to arrive, and as MIJ suggested it was plugged. The hose clamp on the accordian hose at the turbo is hard to spot and you need good light. Mine was covered in dirt so I needed to get my hand down there to clean it off a bit before I could see it. After removing the various small hoses and connectors the air hose comes out easily. The connector however is heard to pry out and harder to reinsert, so I suggest cleaning it in place. There's a small hole on the bottom that was plugged and the inside of the piece was caked with hard residue that came off easily. There are no moving parts inside and I cleaned it out with throttle body cleaner and a small screwdriver. You can remove any debris that drops into the accordian hose, so there is no advantage to pulling the connector out of the hose.
There is no valve or moving part that I can see in this device. It has an electrical connector and the inside looks like a copper sleeve.
Does anybody known what it does??

Jim,
Glad you got it done without disconnecting the bayonet connector...seems your way was much easier than mine....why I didn't think of that, I don't know....Doh! (Homer Simpson hitting himself in the head while holding a donut). Anyways, glad you got it cleaned out. The copper from what I understand, transfers heat to the little electrical device down there and allows more exhaust into the turbo dependent on temperature (possibly by simply expanding and contracting)....at least that's what I've heard.

MIJ,

Actually, I took it out and realized later that I didn't need to. It was a fight getting it back in!

So after fixing the ododmeter I decided to tackle the pcv.

This is my deal, the bayonet connector on the accordian hose going to the turbo, phew!, was fixed before because it had come loose. Black gasket silicone was used and it has not held up to the task at hand.

As you will see in the pics the inside rubber part is toast (I think due to oil) I asked the dealer if there is a replacement gasket, they say no.
The top part looks ok, if not a little soft.
Looking at it again I can see that the rubber makes a sandwich of the accordian pipe( pipe is the peanut butter)
The number stamped on the bayonet connector is 1367839 and 3900160977 and >PA6 -GF30< I would think that there must be a part for this somewhere?

I am sure that some of the forum members have experienced a similar situation, does anybody have an idea where I can get the rubber gasket to reinsert the bayonet connector .

Car now in more pieces than I really would like.
I really do not want to buy a new accordian hose if i can avoid it.

I finally got to replacing the accordian turbo hose. She was a real biatch to get in due to the cold.
I forgot about my lifesaving days in the Southern Hemisphere(Clifton Beach for anyone who knows)that the cold really does shrink things.!!!!
I could not make the connection to the Turbo. My wife's hairdryer came in quite handy.I added a little heat to the Turbo end and she(the hose) then seated nicely.
I keep telling myself.... heated garage, heated garage!

My concern is the amount for oil that was in the old accordian hose.
Any pointers on how to deal with this would be appreciated.

All of the info in this and related threads has saved me a lot of hassle and $$$
Thank you to all.... I experienced all the same issues with oil leaks and such, After I changed out my entire PCV system I had a considerable amount of smoke from exhaust for a while and I thought It was a bad head gasket, but always hoped it was just residual oil in pipes and turbo burning up - I am pretty confident that was the case since I don't have oil/water mixing in either direction and coolant level stayed constant for 5 months. After a 'spirited' drive last night no more smoke and its got some serious pick up now.

Here's my question - the turbo pipe PCV (bayonette) has two hoses, Large top one goes to the Oil trap, where does the other one go? Wastegate?

Also, there are two hoses connecting the top of the oil trap one for the bayonette and the other to the top of head. Does it matter which is which? If so please include a pic of those proper connections. Thanks
