Turns over and stalls within a few minutes

Post by Adrake84 »

I know it's impossible to diagnose without being nearby. My friend/mechanic is running out of ideas and I'm totally feel like I'm abusing his help now. When he worked on it last night (replaced fuel pump) it stayed started so we thought it was good. It cranks, it starts, it runs for a few minutes then stalls.
Before fuel pump replacement.. It'd sputter and stall unless you gave it TONS of gas.
If you try starting it again, it won't until you let it sit for a couple hours.

So. We've replaced: fuel filter again, ignition coil, MAF sensor, cam shaft position sensor, fuel injector relay, fuel pump. I put dry gas in it. The fuel pump relay was done last year.
I've tried hooking it to a jump pack.
I've run out of optimism and hope.
It started up beautifully this morning. So I didn't give it any extra gas.. went inside to say by to my son.. came out to leave myself and it had stalled and won't restart.
After every new part it seems like it’ll be alright.. and then it turns out it’s now.
Plugs, wires, distributor Cap and rotor done this spring.
New battery also this spring, along with starter, crankshaft position sensor.

Have you looked at the coolant temp sensor?

Any CEL or codes?

Did you try disconnecting the battery and letting the ECU reset?

Have you looked at the coolant temp sensor? Checked its connector for corrosion?

An intermittant start then no-start with good cranking does sound like fuel isnt being metered correctly

I would first measure fuel pressure at the rail, with a gauge, to make sure fuel delivery is good.

Remove distributor cap and rotor and make sure everything is shiny and clean in there, like shiny brass. No dirt moisture, crud, oil.

When you get the no start, pull the plugs and report condition - wet with gas?

My car acted all weird with a buggy/corroded coolant temp sensor connector.
