Volvo 850 SC 710 cassette adapter not working

So I bought a cassette adapter (they’re junk i know) for my 97 850 and there’s a constant humming noise and plugging in my phone offers no resolve. It’s an SC 710 radio which I know were the cheaper ones but I’m out of ideas for playing music. Any advice?

You could try to pull one from a junk yard or just put in an aftermarket radio. We've installed aftermarket in the S70 and an 08 S60. Crutchfield sells harnesses to adapt aftermarkets to different cars and sends instructions with the radios on how to integrate it. It worked well for us and neither radio looks out of place in the car.

Ive been really happy with the 10-15 USD FM player I found - tuned to 107.9 where the only traffic is Lou Dobbs - no one listens to him anyway.
