Clock not working after radio removal

Post by volvo_user »

I removed the radio (it actually has a label that says TD-6141 AM/FM tuner deck) on my 1988 740T because it went silent after 2 or 3 minutes of playing the radio or tape. I want to check it out or replace it if needed.
But after I removed the radio, my clock stops working. So I reconnected everything and the clock is still not working. This make me confused if I had everything back the way it was. I was woindering if anyone can help me to make sure that I have everything connected back correctly.

Besides the connection to the amplier and the antenna and a ground wire, I have listed the connectors here.

From the radio, there are 2 white connecotr
one with 5 wires (Back, Grey, red, blue , green) . I could not make any mistake on this because there is only one big female connector on the car radio slot.
one with 2 wires (black and orange) . There is no female connector in the radio slot. I remember that it is not used.

From the radio, there is a single brown wire (female connector) . I cannot see a single male on the car side

From the radio, there is a single yellow wire with a male connector. This is the one that I am not sure, because there are two single female connector on the car side, one is green/white and another one is yellow/white.

Can someone help me on:
1. Where should the single yellow wire from the radio connect to ? The yellow/white or the green/white ?
2. Can I go with the radio removed and everything else working ? Do I need to at least connect the ground wire which is now connected to the radio somewhere ?
3. If I just want to replace the TD-6141 AM/FM deck with a regualr radio, wher do I get the 12V and connection to the speaker. I probably need to bypass the amplifier that is installed in the car.

Found the problem with the clock. Fuse 5 was blown. It is strange because fuse 5 also feeds the radio. I was able to see the light come on on the radio. That's why I did not suspect fuse 5.
Now that I have the clock fixed. I still have the radio wiring problem. I need the help on the wiring of the existing radio so that I know what to do when I install the new one.
