McCloskey did, in fact, write and illustrate Make Way for Ducklings, One Morning in Maine, Blueberries for Sal, Time of Wonder and, I believe, Homer Price. All absolutely marvellous kids books. The illustrations are superb.

Few days ago (snapped aftermarket wheel covers on the snow tire steelies for Ruby Red) and yesterday, had Mavis mount and balance two new Michelin X-Ice 215-65-16s (rear wheels) to complement the relatively unworn ones I have up front. Internet purchase of two for less than $100 ea. Mavis said they list for $140/per. Manufacturer date code on the sidewall was 2419, so not ancient. They came from a seller in Minnesota who, I imagine, is able to move a fair volume of snow tires. If it were my car, I probably would have ridden out the winter with the worn rear tires, but the kids drive that one, so. . .

Replaced the quick disconnect on the cooling fan. It was loose and melted; Thankful for the extra V70 int he back yard! Also reinstalled the interior on my 2002 V70 X/C, which was removed for a ridiculous stereo upgrade.

Oil (Redline 5W30) and filter (Mann) change. First change on the replacement engine for the R. May send sample to Blackstone for analysis. That was yesterday. Today looks like new rear brake pads for the '04 XC70.
Yep, new rear pads it was. Akebonos from FCP. And to think, when Mavis put the snows on they would have done the rear pads for $350 (that, of course included the pads). I politely declined.
I am glad I can do some of my own work. Could not imagine the cost of staying on the road if I couldn't.

Hey Evan, we are on the same schedule
I did an oil change on the 05' V70 with Castrol High Mileage 5/30. And since I saw some mouse droppings on top of the engine I thought I should better check the air filter box.
And sure enough, the little critters made a nice home for themselves again. Looks like my neighbors cat is slacking, or maybe overwhelmed? I know she's around because I see her paw prints on the hood.
The air filter was severely clogged and I'm wondering if this was the reason why my gas mileage was down recently. Normally I get around 31 mpg on my commute, but lately it was more like 28 mpg.
So I cleaned everything up, checked all fluids, checked for leaks and washed the car.
Dirk
