TCM/Accelerator Pedal adaptation

I hate to harp on this but did you try reseating the ECM/TCM into their connectors and getting them FULLY locked back in? The proper tool for doing this has dropped in price to about $15 USD. The Haynes manual even shows you how to fabricate your own Tool. If one of those connections aren’t snug then any scan tool is going to call out a problem with whatever sensor is lacking a good connection.

Something else I forgot to mention (that I remember reading on another thread) is that if I hold my foot on the brake and try to also apply the accelerator pedal nothing happens. On my 2003 XC70 I can gas and brake simultaneously, now is this something that is common on the 02's or a symptom of the issue I am having???

The brake pedal position sensor (sited on the booster) can cause this symptom. These are not too expensive and have a high failure rate.

If you plan to pull it out remember to evacuate the booster of any vacuum by repeatedly pressing the brake pedal while engine is off to avoid having the O ring sucked back in as it's being removed.

Onfly by wire cars, a brake pedal input will override throttle input and cause the throttle to close. This happens onallVolvos post 1998.
