Bought it back in September/October I think? I don't even remember, I have too many cars, haha. With the new X3, our driveway is up to 9 cars... this S70 will go once it's all done (just need to diagnose the rear windows not working, a transmission leak which I believe is the lower cooler line on the trans side, and a couple other small things) then the '93 940. Then, I'm still debating on doing the M66 on the R or just swapping in the FWD delta link rear end and calling it a day... I think I'll be happier with the weight reduction. Of course, I'd still be swapping the 19t for the K24... it still needs to go faster!

Also I totally forgot... there was what looked like oily paper towel lint all over the charge piping, so I swapped it all out to spare piping I had (I have like 3 sets of RN charge piping... it pays off to have an extensive collection of Volvos and parts ). I pulled the IAT sensor out of the ETM hose to transfer over to the new one but I wanted to clean it first, so of course it was unplugged, and there was a good size vacuum leak. That's definitely why it was running rough... once I clean up that sensor and replace it, I think it should run beautifully!

You calculate the space you need to idle in first with no clutch and let the space open and close accordingly.

Yeah, they don't like people messing with titles here... however you can fairly easily get a new title for a car without one, but I haven't actually tried that process yet. Fortunately it won't be necessary for any of my cars at this point.
I've been really surprised about how lax some states are with titles... CT and VT I believe don't even require one on cars older than '95 or something like that.

I'm confident (P)earl will be back on the road soon!

People complain about driving manual cars in traffic, but if you know what you're doing, it's easy! Just have to get that spacing right.

Well I unplugged my TCV electrically, which should directly link the red and yellow vacuum hoses. Now I get progressive boost to about 3psi with no spikes at all. So either my new TVS is defective or my original one was defective and I didn't notice it because my wastegate actuator is not adjusted properly...

So I will have to do some searching to see what the spec is for the LPT turbo. Perhaps someone previously replaced the wastegate actuator that was meant for a T5 that is set at 4 psi?

Forgot to mention this last night, I've had dead on arrival TCVs. Which one did you buy? I recommend the correct PN Pierburg from FCP Euro or similar. I tried that gray Porsche TCV and it limited my boost to 8 PSI when I'm tuned for 16. OEM TCV is the best option for these cars.

Also, here's the chart for wastegate settings. It is indeed 1.8 PSI. It's the 4th post down in this thread. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=28239

I bought the Pierburg TCV from Worldpac. I put the old TCV back in, and I still have the same problem. I lengthened the wastegate adjustment and It helped slightly (lower spikes), But it will still hit boost cut unless you slowly lay into the throttle. I also replaced all the vacuum hoses to the TCV (just in case). I did notice I do have quite a bit of play in the actual wastegate (not the actuator). I think the play is causing the wastegate to bind on initial spool up. Eventually the boost will settle to the normal 6 psi and stay there.
I am thinking I may just go to the Junkyard and grab a used Turbo.

Having the boost gauge makes it a little bit easier to drive with the issue. I can use my foot to regulate boost and keep the acceleration somewhat smooth .

The wastegate flap itself moves around freely when it's open, so that's normal. However while the WG is closed, it should be held on there tight.
If you're referring to the arm, that could possibly be creating a weak seal if it moves around with the actuator connected.

Yes the wastegate seems to rotate freely when disconnected, but it has play when it is held stationary and wiggled (like the shaft is wallowed out or egg shaped). I will try and post a video. I was also thinking that the TCV is not responding as quickly as it should, or the actuator is not moving as quickly as it should on initial acceleration.
I will definitely keep you posted.

Oil cooler hose came today and I fixed the mysterious transmission leak on the S70... turns out the dipstick tube o-ring was TOTALLY mangled, causing it to dump 2 quarts of fresh fluid out. Once that was fixed, I finally took the first drive, and it drives really well! Runs smoothly and quietly and feels really good overall. I'll check and fill the ATF again tomorrow.
The only problem now is the suspension... my cousin has some good used Sachs struts, so I'll swap those out in the next couple days, and probably replace the tie rods as well. Then it's the basic stuff from there, like the non-functional rear windows and a couple other odds and ends.
