K&N filter kits for 850's

Post by Solutech »

Im led to believe that this kit will also fit the 2.0l engine .

Im a big fan of K&N gear as I dont like having to replace air filters Id rather just clean and reuse . I also like the noise they make lol .

Does anyone know if this kit will fit the 2.0l or if it wont does anyone know of a replacement kit that will . I know they do an inbox one for the 2.0l but I d rather remove the airbox and go for open cone filters if at all possible .

Why don't you use a box that's MADE for these cars.
IPD (US) and Eurosport (CAN) both have custom CAI's.
Does it fit a 2.0, I don't know, you would have to ask them

Why not just get the drop in replacement for your airbox?

I say K&N as I can get them locally, Im in the UK remember . And Ive used them in the past on other cars Ive owned . Neither IPD or Euro do a kit for the non turbo version either that replaces the standard airbox.

Just do a drop in. Nothing you can do on an NA engine will really give you more hp, but if it makes you feel better.......

Not really bothered about performance as such . I like the noise more than anything . Also in the Uk the volvo has a reputation as an old fogies car . Tickles me to have one that roars and gurgles at the boy racers  .

You may need to do a little work on it but this is a great thread showing the "old fogies" at the N

I agree to do the K&N drop in filter...you can still clean it every 15-20K miles or so and reuse it. It might not give you the sound as much but it will improve the breathing to the throttle to some degree. The kit you point out is not very good for our cars...the engine compartment gets pretty hot and it would just suck in hot air. A better alternative would be to build your own and such as this one (but since your is not a turbo, go directly to the throttle body): http://www.quickbrickmotorsports.com/tech_diycai.html

Oh, I should mention that Slater (the guy who runs quickbrick) turned his battery to give him more room to accomplish the cold air intake mod.

I also have the 2L, and I'm using the drop in k&n. I think most of the airboxes are the same (2.5 or 2L).

I like it, gives the car a nice sound upgrade 8)

If you buy the cone kit for your volvo, plz let me know how you like it.

Definately some good ideas in there . The diy box looks tempting . I will look into it a bit more and see what I can dig up .
