My cousin actually has one on his T5... can confirm it's faster. But we haven't actually tested this theory head to head yet...

Well, I went outside to look at my 2004 V70 that I just bought on friday. It's my first Volvo! I'm taking it for a ~6 hour drive tomorrow to get it home, hoping it will all go smoothly. I love this car so far.

How do you like your 2005 version? I'm over here in the middle of Norway. I'm really happy with mine so far, although it needs a wash after yesterdays roadtrip to bring it home. It doesn't seem to be as thirsty as I feared it might be, at least not when driving mostly economically.

Well, not today, but this last weekend I:

• Pulled the droopy sagging headliner out of my wagon in preparation for replacing it with the un-saggy one that's been taking up room in my garage for the last couple o' years.
• Dropped the sunroof assembly to try and fix it so it would slide all the way back.
• Discovered the reason why the sunroof wouldn't slide back. Broken bits in both slider mechanisms. Unrepairable
• Tripped out to the local Pick'n'Pull in my Westy to source a working sunroof. First time driving the Westy in months.
• Figured out how to wire up a Makita LXT power pack to test 850 sunroofs in situ.
• Found a good one in a '98 S70, which I started to pull before I thought "just how the bleep am I going to get this thing out of this car? Are the door openings large enough?"
• Shifted my attentions to a '95 855 which had an achingly clean interior. Makita-tested the sunroof. Painstakingly extracted the pristine headliner and stowed it in a nearby XC70 for safekeeping (hopefully it's still there next weekend. It was hellaciously windy last weekend. Would not have wanted to try carrying a wagon headliner in that).
• Extracted the sunroof from the '95 and scurried off to the checkout. Scored a cargo mat and a keyless entry fob from that car too.
• Got home and installed the new sunroof so the wife's S80 could get back in the garage.

Now I hurt.

I get well over 30 mpg ( about 8 liters/ 100 km or better) which is good for a big estate car.

Do you have a 5 speed like mine, too?

Did the 245,00 mile oil and filter change on return - pulled car into driveway, drained, started dinner before she got home.

So for a while now I've been trying to track down a loud noise on the passenger side of the engine bay. The sound changes pitches when the AC is turned on. I was suspicious of the AC pulley bearing and decided to do the AC delete with the oreillys serpentine belt #K060495. Its fits very well and my engine is quiet again after many years of noise making.

I also had to rig up my own serpentine tension tool because of course I waited until all the stores were closed and despite saying "I need to get one of those tools or make one" for years and I still haven't.

So now that the AC is "out of the loop" I can freely spin the pulley and it spins very well for a good 10-15 seconds before stopping. I hear a slight metal on metal sliding/scraping noise.
As far as I can tell that bearing is free. I bought a replacement bearing some time ago but it's really difficult to turn. Should a new bearing have that much resistance?

I taped the driver side turn signal back in, so now it matches the passenger side. I pulled into a gas station and it was hanging out by the wire.

Also drove Boston to NYC and averaged 31.5 mpg (highway only) according to the trip computer.
