Ok so my car has about 240,000 klicks on it, new fuel pump trunk and inline, new mass air flow censor, and i forgot the name but it has to do with the fuel, its this round silver piece that its in the engine bay and it controls fuel that new too. The problem that im having is that if it sits overnight, and also depending on how cold it is, its realy hard to start. In order for me to start it, i have to use lockable pliers and and squeze the fuel line that runs in to the manifold, and just crank it like 10 or 12 times before it starts sometimes even longer. So after the car starts i take the pliers off and everything is fine. The car drives fine, exept for a high idle After the car starts up i have no problem starting it after its been running, but if it sits for too long and its really cold i have to do the same thing. I dont now if when its warm outside it would do the same thing, i got the car not long ago, but it seems the warmer it is the less problem starting. Its something related to fuel but im at a loss as what that is. If i dont put the pliers on the fuel line, it wont start for even longer if ever. Maybe its one of the relays, i dont now, any thoughts though??? simular problems?? thanks for any help

Did you change the fuel pressure checkflow valve?
It could be bleeding fuel pressure off.
Did you check the cold start injector?
Engine coolant temp sensor?
The temp sensor (not the one for the guage) signals the cold start injector based on temperature of coolant.
If it senses the engine is cold the computer gives the cold start injector a shot. Not sure exactly how it works but I changed both on mine, got a used CSI on ebay.
I don't see how crimping off the fuel feed line helps, are you trying to prevent it from flooding?
Is the problem weak spark?
Does it start easier with a shot of ether?

I changed the coolant temp censor recently because it showed up as a code. As for the fuel pressure check flow valve and the cold starting injector no i never changed them, or know where they are for that matter, lol, im new to volvos im more of a GM guy. I dont know how crimping the fuel line helps, but it seems to i guess it builds up the fuel pressure, again i could be wrong. As i said though if the car is warmed up and even if it was running for like 2 min, if i shut it off again it starts up again so i dont think there is any problem with the spark. Ill try to change the injector if you could point me in the right direction regarding the location. And as far as the ether goes, i dont even know what that is where would i put the ether?? Sorry im so lost, thanks for the input so far

Hold off on buying a cold start injector (expensive). Check some other cheaper stuff first. The CSI is located on the underside of the intake manifold, right where you can't get at it. The CSI is located very close to the coolant temp sensor, near cyclinder #3 ,intake side.
Are the codes clear now or are you still getting something.
The fuel pressure check valve screws into the fuel filter.
Pull the vac line off the FPR (fuel pressure regulator , its on the fuel rail nearest you) , if theres fuel present on the vac side its leaking.
When you open the throttle does the switch on the throttle body click just as the throttle starts to open, and click just as it closes?
Gotta go do some work right now, I'm baking.
Cheers, Gerard.
