I managed to address a couple more small items in the recent sun we've had, the first of which was to redye the trim. I last applied the trim dye on March 2019 so it lasted well over a year. I've now had three applications out of that tube of Wurth Dye-Plast PT, which cost £23. Three years of dye for £23 is pretty cost-effective!

Next up, and inspired by the work of one chap on a different forum, I bought a small pack of Whitemorph and used it to repair some broken trim mounts on my column shroud. I was very surprised by how economical this product was, I must have only used about 10g to make both these. It also has quite a long work-time, which is excellent for fine-tuning or awkward areas. One of the mounts is threaded two, I assembled the shroud off the car, put the fastener in place and then moulded it around the fastener and remnants of the old mount. Its easy to drill, easy to sand, and very east to get a nice smooth finish with if it were to be used in a visible area. Very impressed!

We get three of those little towers on the V70 trim

I wrapped them in vinyl tape, the filled the tower with epoxy. From there, I drilled new holes and countersunk holes to fit.

That British a Racing Green is a gorgeous colour

Need to get my hands on some epoxy actually, thanks for reminding me. Most of my trim pieces have small cracks that need some reinforcement. Might also try your technique in other areas where access is a bit more restricted - the thermosetting plastic option is great when you have space to properly mould it but rather awkward otherwise.

Yes, I do love 421. Definitely my favourite colour and the pearl really does shift the colour depending on angle.

Those are hard to find little screws by the way. I’m sure they are orderable from Volvo but probably not in a factor or FLAPSas we call them here. I have spares.

what a terrific car color you got! Love it!
BTW, do you get to choose the number plates or are they random?

Either. Cars get assigned a plate at the point of sale, but you then have the option to add a personalised numberplate instead. They still have to conform to correct plate standard for the year of the car, so for example I could not swap to the newer format, any custom plate for my car would have to be letter-number-number-number-letter-letter-letter, and new cars (letter-letter-number-number-letter-letter-letter) cant transition to the style used for mine.

Alright, i thought that only countries like Germany had custom number plates. In any case, to drive such an awesome car is is what matters, not what number plates are there.

If you don’t have violations you can get customized plates that spell most anything here, as long as it isn’t obscene.

I used this trick decades ago to avoid parking tickets.

Sometimes you can’t help but laugh...
