Hi All ,
I recently had to change my right driveshaft on my 99 V70 (manual transmission) , and as a result I lost some gear oil... I know that there is a level plug under the car , but I heard Robert DIY on Yoitube talk about some mechanics filling gear oil from the top . So my question is just if anyone here has tried that and if it would be correct procedure to unscrew and remove the backinglight switch and then pour the oil through the hole where the switch is mounted?
Thanks alot

The problem will be figuring out how much to replace. The fill plug also serves as the indicator. Good news is the lev isn’t critical , so if you think you spilled 100 ml or do you could put 109-200 ml back in without checking.
If you have over 200,000 km on the car , it’s worth changing it for about 20 EURO

Yes , but fortunately I kept a plastic container under the car to catch the oil so I now how much I lost ...
I was just wondering if it would be okay to refill it from the top through the reverse switch hole ? Just because its easier
