I plugged in NGK platinum... Mistake?
How important are factory plugs?

Oh, and duralast could
(Got a P0422 a few drive cycles later)
How important are Volvo plugs, NGK?

If they're gapped correctly (0.028) and they run fine, then keep them. I have NGK IX Iridium plugs in mine, runs perfectly, though normally I have used OEM Volvo in the past.
For coils, I'd definitely use OEM only.
Your P0422 Cat converter code can be caused by a few things. For what it's worth, my car was running perfectly, new plugs, coils, O2 sensors, great shape... and I'd still get that code every couple hundred miles. I think after a while the cat converter just loses the efficiency the rear O2 sensor is looking for. I got a space and code went away forever. Now I have an aftermarket downpipe and exhaust with rear O2 sensor delete (I still am running a cat).

Duralast coils are fine, just like any other cheaper auto store brand. P0442 wouldn't be caused by the coils or plugs if they're all new and you don't have any misfires.
NGK platinum plugs are just fine, as long as they are gapped correctly as Ed mentioned. Most prefer OE Volvo plugs, Bosch FR7DC, or NGK BKR6E. I'm running the BKR6E plugs in mine currently.

Thanks for the input.
The CEL turned itself off (a first for any vehicle I've owned).
I picked up Volvo plugs yesterday, I'll drop them in for my sanity.
A new-to-me used car, hoping for many trouble-free miles!

I had some NGK Iridiums in my V70 and it ate one side of each of the center conductors. This was all well under 60k miles.
Wisdom requires knowledge as a prerequisite, but knowledge can be developed due to a lack of wisdom.
In order to learn how to fix something, you must first learn how to break it.
