Re: Pcv, breather box help
I have everything lined up pretty well. Are you in cincinnati? I would love to meet with someone who has some knowledge on this. Would also love a video.

The spring bolt is one of the 3 that retains the turbo heat shield. The galvanized pipe is a hard coolant line that attaches to the turbo & reservoir.

Well the spring bolts both broke. Is that normal? They didn't move, just twisted and broke. I know I was going the right direction because the other bolts came off? I mean the car is pretty old but idk, live and learn
I'll have to tap it out once its off. No big deal
I'll just have to get new ones.
But both heat shields are off.
And I can't seem to get to the lower bolt on that coolant pipe though. The pipe is right in front of it and really close. Nothing I have to use a 10mm socket will reach in there. Also didnt make much progress with a wrench

I haven’t had one break, but I’ve always anticipated that particular one breaking every time I’ve put force to it.
The only times I’ve had the coolant & oil pipes off the turbos have been when I’ve also had the bevel gear off. I’m sure there’s a work-around. Maybe SuperHerman, Abscate or VTL will chime in.

If those have been in awhile they need heat to be applied for thee -four cycles ( propane, 60 seconds, then 10 minutes cooling) to break the bond.
If you have a stub of stud left you can apply heat to that and use a sharp vice grip to turn it out.
If not, the heatshirld can be zip tied back in
A small 1/4 drive socket , 10 mm will fit on the lower water pipe bolt.
