P80 piston position relative to the timing clearance mark

Post by abscate »

I happen to have a cylinder head off a white block, a 1998 B5244S , and I can’t find the crank clearance mark,

No worries, I will sort that out with the other marks as needed, but in turning the engine around I note the following

At any given rotation there are two cylinders close to the top of the stroke, and the clearance span is about 3-4 crank teeth at most.

The most clearance possible is when the two highest cylinders reside about 1 cm below the level of the head at most.
