Hmmm , coming off the OXS harness. Could be PTC electrical connection on snorkel?

I agree with Abscate - there aren’t really any other obvious 2-conductor receptacles in that vicinity. Has to be PTC connector. Look at the hard plastic pipe that you took off of the turbo inlet (The one that goes from the MAF to the turbo). There should be 2 hose barbs of different sizes right on the inside of the lower elbow, just before the airstream enters the turbo. Sandwiched between those 2 barbs should be what’s referred to as the PTC. Your freely dangling receptacle likely came unplugged because it appears to be missing the wire “bail” that is supposed to act as a fail safe for the pair of connectors coming apart. The previous owner probably got pissed & used a screwdriver to break the wire retainer off vs simply pushing it inward towards the receptacle.

Making progress. A lot of gunk in here. And there's oil puddles up inside there. Is there suppose to be that much oil just chillin?

I believe all I have left are the head bolts.
I used the smallest wrench ever for that bottom bolt on the water line

It looks like some of those cam lobes don't contact the valve lifters.
cyl's 2 and 4 on the intake cam.

heavy oil tarnish on 2 and 4 intake cyl cam lobes.
the valve springs keep the lifters in contact with the lobes but some of yours loo like disused railroad tracks, tarnished.
Do you have a plan ? ...like wrap the cams in old towels to protect them?
...and take the head to a machine shop, that would be a decent plan.

Either way, protect the camshafts from banging against the head and each other. Putting all three parts in a big cardboard box is a sure way to damage something if they roll around.
I would not start cleaning parts until a pair of experienced eyes have looked at it, they can tell what is wrong by the evidence.
