Agreed. And the P2 wagon has noticeably less interior space than the P80 wagon, especially in the front cabin. So disappointing ...
Shouldn't the 03 S80 have the same chassis as the XC70? The S80 seems to have a lot of room compared to the 98 S80 T5 especially in the rear. In terms of comfort - P80, (P2 then P1 but not by much) as they both have areas for improvement.

Cool, so I'm not the only one! The seats in my brother's S60 are like brand new, but they aren't nearly as comfortable as my P80 seats. Although I'll say, the P2 XC90 seats are awesome.

That XC70 looks really nice, especially for the price. Definitely a good idea to hook up VIDA and see what you can find, but it's a clean looking car that sounds like it was well maintained.

I bought the Toyota 4Runner as I found the XC90 seats also uncomfortable. For a big guy like me with a lower back issue I found they lack thigh support, just like many modern cars., which put the load on my spine, just like our XC70. Hard to believe the $runner is better but then only in the older 4th Gen., 5th are truly awful.

I did drive one 07 XC70 which I could swear had a different seat but the dealer said they never made one. All I can say is it was better than any others I drove so weird!

Whatever you go for, good luck.

Neil.

Yes, the S80 is also on the P2 platform, but the interior is larger. The XC90 is as well, it's a modular platform.

I can understand the lack of thigh support. Otherwise, my dad and I both agree, on road trips the XC90 seats are by far our favorite. Getting out of the car, you barely even feel it. Meanwhile my cousin's 2013 Jetta TDI Sportwagen seats SUCK. I took the same trip in that car to my uncle's house about 4 hours away and my legs hurt like hell. It's a great car, but with his lowering springs the ride is stiff and the seats are too hard for a long trip.
BMW seats are excellent for thigh support, my E90 seats are fantastic. The leg extensions really help. Plus the inflatable side bolsters are great to hold you in place.

P80 is a mid-size platform. P2 is a full-size platform. I was picking a S80 the other day and the front row seating looked like more space the my P80 C70 but I did not measure it. Could it be that the S80 has less front row space then you expect?

The 960s where that way. A couple of large people where looking to buy my '98 s90 thinking it would be a good car for them. They had trouble fitting between the steering wheel and the driver's seat. The 960s where marketed to financially successful people that could afford a hired driver. The second row seating was for the owner. If you look at a 960 or a first generation S90, you will see that more space is given to the second row seating then the first row seating.

OK thanks, so its back to a XC90 for our next Volvo. When I took my parents for a test drive of an 07 XC90 in 2018 they immediately fell in love with it. Due to their age we've chauffeured them around for over 10 years so a car would have to work for them also. They loved our S70 back in 2012 but was terrible for them to get in and out of. They really love both the front and back seat comfort.

Honestly I find the back seat of an S70 more comfortable and spacious than a 940/960/S90, and I'm 6'3". The problem with the 900 series is the head room. You need to be sitting all the way back and not move if you don't want your head to rub the headliner. Not to mention in my driving position, there's no leg room for me in back either.
Meanwhile I have plenty of room driving my 940, and my S90 was the same. I just wish the steering column was adjustable on the 940, it's a little close to my knees. On the 760/960/S/V90 it's adjustable, so that makes it a little more comfortable.
