hey there-
been trying to find an answer the past few nights but can't- just acquired a 96 850 turbo wagon with a bad rear psngr shock(8626030)- and wondering if i can pull the 9200014's off the rear of my 98 xc..
sorry if this is an insane question.. obviously the ride height is different between the two vehicles.. im just trying to learn to make mid 90 volvo ownership a more sustainable move for my broke ass.
thanks

The 98 V70 XC probably has the self leveling AWD Nivomat. I believe the mountings are totally different for a FWD as rear suspensions are totally different.
Does your 96 have self leveling rear shocks too?
V70XC has a longer shock travel but if it fits it might work but it might screw up the self leveling height.
Neil.

from what i could find on a 8626030(the shock currently on my 96) search they appear to be self leveling nivomats most commonly used on 98-2010
so if they're both nivomats atleast i can expect the mounts to fit? i guess thats where i'm confused-
thanks for such a quick response neil!

Ride height will be higher on the side where you would install an XC nivomat.
It will look awfull and handling would be compromised.

I that case...the rear end would sit a lot higher than it should...and again....handling would be compromised because the car will be diving with nose(front end) down.

got it- i guess i should have stated i was considering swaping all four.. but maybe that would lead to handling issues too.. sorry for my lack of knowledge here just trying to learn.

Turbo cars sits lower than n/a cars and a lot lower than xc cars.
Originally...suspension is a bit stiffer on turbo cars.
If you want to be safe in regards of handling...you will need to swap the whole thing....rear XC shocks with springs and front XC shocks with springs.
If you don't mind...it will look like an XC.

Check the lower mounting on both Nivomats. The V/S 70 and V70 XC all have a lower mount like this on the AWD models:
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... -6#fitment
See the bar at the bottom? That fits into the rear control arm on the AWD cars.
This is the FWD equivalent:
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... 70-8626028
Note it does not have the bar. Now, whether you can remove the bar from the bottom of a Nivomat without damaging the bush...........
Neil.
